Hi All,

I know Marine Corp is just 19 days away, but I am concerned with my speed. I am wondering if anyone here runs at a 7:00 - 7:15 pace that is running the marathon. If so, perhaps we could run once before to give me a sense if I can handle the speed for 26.

Greatly Appreciated,

Bryce

Two questions:

1. What suggestions do folks have for combating sweaty shorts that ride up in the front while running? By the end of my run, my shorts are soaked and tend to gravitate upward which isn't too flattering. Wondering if there are shorts that don't do this or ways to combat it. I've got 6" Nike DriFit shorts now, and i'm not looking to start wearing spandex.

2. What's the consensus on running without a shirt? It's really hot and humid in DC nowadays and I feel like it could be a good idea, but I've got my own theories about dudes running around without shirts. Wanted to know if those are unfounded or generally shared by all?

Can anyone make a recommendation on a 20+ training route in and around the metro DC area (District and NOVA preferably). I've run many - Arlington loop, WO&D out/back, Crescent, C&O out/back, but I'm looking for your personal favorites. Preferably on routes that are well-traveled with other bikers and pedestrians on weekends, shaded (it's hot!), and offer respite from traffic.

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone lived in DC proper and wanted to meet up for motivation and company. Typically I run early in the mornings so I can get back before work. I live near Dupont Circle and usually run from my apartment either through Georgetown to get across the Key Bridge and on the Mt Vernon Trail

OR

I'll south on the Rock Creek Parkway then across the river up near Iwo Jima

OR

North on Rock Creek Parkway

Basically, I'm fairly flexible where to go, but the time isn't really too flexible. I am usually out the door by 6:30am, but can go earlier, just not later.

Let me know if you're interested!

Mike

PS- I'm training for the Country Music Marathon on 4/25/09, so I'm looking at 7-10 miles around the 8 minute pace area. Also flexible though.

Hey all! I hope people are taking advantage of this "heat wave" we're experiencing in mid January :) I had a good 7 mile run this morning. I just wanted to say that this group has been very motivating (even though no one says anything). I follow the training of the members and try to stay near the top of mileage run. I have my running schedule set, but I'll think twice if I ever consider cutting a run short or if I want to skip a run. I'm mainly talking to you Clanum :) Just wanted to say thanks and keep it up!

How is everyone's training going for the MCM? I have my 20 miler this weekend, longest I've ever done (current longest is my 18 miler from 2 weeks ago). Needless to say this is my first marathon and I'm getting excited! Any one catching any snags in their training or need some motivation? I can't wait for the 28th!
