Or a similar device. I have looked at the Garmin Forerunner products, and they look quite nice, so I have just a few questions...

I'd like to go running, have my watch track my course/time/etc, and then be able to upload that information to this site... So, lets say that I run an extra .5 miles at my course - when I upload the data from the watch, it'll know this and will plot it on that day's course?

I'm not fully sure how to explain it!

Thank you,
I'm a 10-15 m a week runner in the UK, and mostly have to go on pavements and roads cos of where I live and work... I'm 47 and have had knee problems in the past...

so..

What running shoes does anyone recommend which give the best heel cushion to soften the impact of road running.

I had some Nike Air 360 shoes (bought in US ofr $40) - really comfortable

Reeboks with deep heel, but the heel was actually very hard and did not feel like it absorbed much impact

ALSO I'm not into paying some specialist shop £150 for them!!!

Running shoe experts,

I had my gait analysed this morning and was deemed to be a moderate over-pronator. Not seriously, but need a structured shoe. I have a wide foot (2E) and weigh about 90kg.

The RunningWorld sales assistent pointed me in the direction of the Asics Evolution 4. But from what I can see, these are really more for VERY bad over-pronators - even called 'Motion Control' by Asics. They don't stock the Adrenalines in a 2E width, only D (which I used to have, but blew-out the sides) . I'm a bit worried that I'm getting a lot more shoe and support than I need.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey all,

Was just wondering if this has happened to anyone?

I use a Polar RS200 (have had it for just over a week) with the wearlink HR strap. This morning while running on the treadmill the strap burnt me. I was probably wearing it for about an hour when I started feeling discomfort from it. I now have a burn/irritation on my chest that runs from where the electrode areas sat on my chest.

I'm starting to wonder if I got a defective strap?

I was just wondering if anyone else out there has significant problems with their toes falling asleep during runs. I have tried numerous shoes and have settled on one that allows me to go the farthest without problems, but the problem still exists. If you have had this problem, how did you resolve it? My shoes are not tied too tight (if anything I keep them too loose) and a wider toe box does not seem to make a difference.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi I have been having some lower back issues and foot pain and I really think it is because my running sneakers are getting too old. I want to make sure I pick the right pair since the sneakers I have been using are old and additionally were only supposed to be for "light running," and I have been doing more than light running!!!

I THINK I am in the "neutral" category of what type of shoes I need, but the thing is that the heel section of the tread on my sneakers is worn unevenly -- the OUTSIDE part of the heel is worn a lot more than the inside. The rest of the tread wear looks to be pretty even in the front. I noticed the same thing on my dress shoes that I wear to work.

I would appreciate if anyone knew whether this indicated that I was "overpronated" or this could just be normal wear and tear and I can get "neutral" new sneakers. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know of any good retailers online, or have any other suggestions on possible alternatives?

So, I've been looking online at new shoes and don't understand what the different types mean. What is stability, neutral, and control and how do I know which one I need?

I've been running with the Forerunner 305 for about 8 mos, and have noticed discrepancies between it's distance measurement and the known length of the run. It's consistently overstating my distance. Some examples:

1) Every week I do track repeats. 800m is just under a half mile, so I shoulod be hitting .5 miles just after the completion of the 800. However, on my Garmin, the .5 mile mark occurs *before* I complete the 800, by about 50ish feet (I run in the inside lane the whole time).

2) I just ran the Kaiser Half-Marathon in San Francisco, a certified course. My wife's 205 reported 13.1x miles. My 305 reported 13.26 miles.

3) Same thing with a 5k a couple months back. 3.25 miles instead of 3.1x.

After the 5k, I thought maybe it might be a bug in the device software, so I used the Garmin Web Uploader to update it. Sure enough, my version was several months out of date, so I was optimistic.

But the inaccuracy is still happening. Any ideas?

At the moment I run with a Nike Triax 250 (about 10 years old) and a Polar Beat heart rate monitor, one strapped round each wrist. The display on the Nike is starting to fail and there are no parts anywhere for it due to age.

I am trying to decide whether to buy the current equivilent watch - the Nike Triax Speed 100 Super or move to an all in one device, looking at the Polar RS200 which will talk to the chest strap I currently own.

I use the interval timer on the Nike or the chrono feature to track run duration withthe heart rate monitor giving a constant display of current heart rate. I do not need/want heart rate targets or alarms just simply the ability to display my current heart rate for me to manually monitor to confirm effort level.

Does anyone have suggestions of which way to go or any experience with the Polar RS200 unit.

Many thanks
