Hey All, I've been using a Reebok HR monitor for a while. It works awesome but my Mom gave me her Garmin 301 that she doesn't use anymore, however the chest strap is lost. I tried to make my Reebok sync up with the Garmin, but it was a no go. Does anybody know if there is any way to make these work together or perhaps know of a cheap replacement strap that's compatible? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

Before I ask my question, I'll give a bit of a background. I just started back running about 5-6 months ago...I'm running a marathon this weekend. In my long runs, I've averaged about a 9 min mile, so I'm good for the marathon. However, my goal now is to train summer/fall and run another in Dec and try to qualify for Boston this winter.

So, here's my question. I have some b-day money and was thinking of getting an iPod nano and the Nike+ sensor or possibly the Forerunner 305/405. I like the idea of the GPS time tracking to know exactly my distance/pace, but I hear the Nike+ can be pretty close as well. And, then I thought about doing Heart-rate training, but didn't know how effective that would be with this longer training as I know what I really need to do is just run. I have another MP3 player, but podcasts are hard to get on it (just tedious more than anything).

Thoughts?

I was recently introduced to the idea of wearing knee high compression socks during the marathon to help with blood flow and muscle fatigue. Do you wear/have any experience with compression socks? Do they really make a difference during the race and in recovery? If so, what brand do you recommend.

Hello! I have an 18 month old girl who frequently comes jogging with me. We have a BOB Revolution now and LOVE it. Couldn't be happier. There are at least 600 miles on that stroller and it still rolls like it is brand new. I am expecting again and need to get another stroller - one for TWO! Anyway, I have read a bit about the Phil and Teds strollers but haven't been able to find anything about how they do with jogging. They look more streamlined than the double wide strollers... If anyone has any experience with double joggers (specifically the Phil and Teds) I would appreciate some advice!

Thanks!

Hi all,

Just got a Garmin 305 a few days ago, and I have been able to download courses to my watch, and upload courses and distances run from my watch to my mapmyrun account.

My question is with the other data collected by the watch (time, pace, max speed, elevation, etc.) can be uploaded to my training log. I found another site that uploads all of the data to their training log, and basically keeps a detailed running journal for me simply by connecting the watch and visiting the site.

Does the map my run training log have this feature? Is there a fairly easy way to upload all of my run data from my watch without having to type it in? Love this site, and would hate to stop using it.

Thanks.

I've hunted through the clothing sections in the Running sites, but can't find too many pairs of socks advertised; a pet hate of mine is the way, after seven or eight miles or so, the seam in so many of my so-called trainer socks cuts like a wire, particularly across the bridge of the big toe.

At the moment I have to sort through my socks individually to feel out those with reasonable seams and apply plasters across the sensitive parts.

Any recommendations for socks that are up to the job?

I'm currently using a small LED headlamp for running at night on the roads but would like something brighter for use on the trail runs. The current light is called cyclops and is found at pro bass shops and cabela's for ten dollars. I've aslo tried the petzl tika and zipka but found those to be to shallow of a light. Would like something rechargable and bright enough for a trail run as well as for cars to see me while on the road lightweight would be good too but I'm sure both can't be had.
