Chris ... Would you ask the good people at MapMyRun to allow those of us who import data from our Polar watches to also include the running information. Presently, the importing is only for heartrate info. I would like to also import data on the running distance, pace, GPS, etc.
As always... love my Polar watch.
Phil
Hi Phil, which watch do you have? I have a Polar S710 and it is time for an upgrade, but I was not aware that no GPS data can be imported from a Polar, well then again thinking about it, it only gives an option of "Polar HRM". Still researching this, but I am still torn on leaving Polar and moving to Garmin, but it served me so well over the last 9 years.
Interesting to see if the techies at MMR will respond to this.
Hi Phil,
That is definitely a great suggestion. I will look into it a bit further and absolutely bring it up in discussion for further developement!
Chris @ Polar
Hi Groef,
We launched a new series of Polar that have the ability to register and store GPS data along with other factors such as speed, distance,hr,power, cadence..etc.. Check out the RS800cx and CS600x.
Hope this helps.
Chris @ Polar
Groef... What Chris didn't say about the RS800CX, which I have, is that it's outstanding! With the GPS and footpod sensor, you can't ask for anything better. When I upload my info to Polar ProTrainer software I can not only see all my running data (HR, pace, index, etc.), but I can link to Google Earth to see exactly where I ran.
I strongly recommend this watch.
Phil
Hi Phil/Chris, thanks for this and yes the RS800CX is in the list that I am considering. But as you mentioned Phil you get Google Earth bit through the Polar's software, but what about when uploading you data to MMR? The other problem I am facing is that RS800CX can not be used for swimming. As mentioned I currently own the S710 with cadance and speed sencor on the bike, which is not compatible with the RS800CX, so I basically have to get new once that are compatible.
This means for me to have a complete package for running and cycling I will need to the following
RS800CX, G3 GPS, footpod (GYM usage), Speed and Cadence. Polar does not sell this as a package, a bit strange or it would have been nice if Polar would provide some sort of upgrade package for people like me who has fallen in love with Polar, but can not justify the cost anymore, due to alternatives. So if I add all this up it is a lot of money, where I could get all the above via Garmin 405CX or Garmin 310xt + accessories. OK 405CX does not give me swimming and the 310xt is not really a sport watch. So, in reallity I have not found a true winner. Suunto have also atracted my attention with their t6c with memory heart rate monitor, which could be a complete package, but again does not seem to be supported here at MMR.
Lastly, I am about to upgrade my PC to a MAC and from what I read Polar is not MAC friendly is this true?
I would immediatly upgrade to the RS800CX if a complete package is on offer for discounted price compared to buying everythin individually or some trade in is offered, seeing it has served me so well.
It would also be nice if RS800CX comes wth alternate HR monitor that can be used in the pool.
Regards,
Francois
Hmm... I don't answers for those questions. I don't use my Polar for swimming, because I can't stand swimming == I'm what you can a big rock when it comes to the pool. Good luck with your choice. Chris may have some suggestions.
Salut...
HI Lozza31, maybe Phil or Chris can help here as I do find the Polar extremely good and trustworthy, but the watch that I have is 9 years old and I can only upload HRM files, which would upload things like speed (avg, min, max) bike rides, Heartrate (avg, min, max), Date, duration and time of my activity. Unfortunately my watch does not have GPS capability or footpod integration, so no way of capturing those for running. I have to manually map my runs, which some time can be a bit time consuming.
As mentioned before I am in the same boat as you looking to upgrade, but still trying to decide, with part of the decision will be how well the product will integrate with MMR. Maybe it is time for people at Polar to work with MMR and incorporate functionality found on their polarfitness website into MMR and rather work together given them a bigger fan base. Maybe this is happening, but I am not aware of this.
The challenge to find an all in one compatible MMR HRM upgrade continues.
Seeing that Phil started this thread, I assume that reading his threads he has an RS800CX top of the range Polar with footpod and GPS, which integrates with Google Earth, but via the supplied software on his PC. I also undertand (please correct my if I am wrong Phil), that the question asked by Phil was when and if the upload of running information is going to occur. This I assume would be like the route ran, distance etc.
Good luck with the search and I hope we both can finally purchase our Polars, loved mine and will be sad to see it go.
Francois and Lozza31... I'm not sure which is the best watch to upload "all" you data. As Francois (groef) notes, I'm hoping that the people at MMR can figure a way that all my Polar is uploaded, not just the heartrate info.
Hope that sort of helps.
Thanks for the aea@mmf! I'd be happy to send you some of my complete run data if that could help you to integrate all the Polar data transfer.
You should know that when I upload my runs to the Polar ProTrainer software and look at my exact GPS runs on Google Earth, the distance is always accurate with the MapMyRun planning. Two very useful tools for training.
Great site here.
Phil
Artur, I note that cycling distance and ascent do not get imported into MMR, even though they are recorded and downloadable into Polar's own software. I can edit the workout to add the distance in MMR's website, but adding ascent info isn't even an option in any of your menu boxes. It would be great to support these basic features through automatic import.
FTR, I'm using an older model 625X.
HI
I'd like to know how to export dat from polar rs300 to pc, in order to update my profileon mapmyrun. I'm able to update data on polar webstite but not in other software/webapplications. I think that i would be right download the log file...but how? I'm really frustated and I start thinking to have done the wrong polar. Please please help me!
thx!
Vittorio
Abest - in- Griffith,
At the moment you can only upload .HRM files and .GPX files that have been downloaded to the Protrainer 5/Polar Precision Performance softwares. Click here to upload - http://www.mapmyride.com/edit_workout_import
The files will be located on your C drive, in Program Files>Polar>Protrainer 5>Yourname. The HR and exercise data will be the files ending in .HRM, and the GPS files(from RS800cx or CS600x) will be files ending in .GPX.
Hope this answers your question
Chris
