I have a Garmin 205 ... and I have a Nokia phone with their Sporttracker software.

The Garmin is easier to wear etc, but I like the phone cos the display is colour and much clearer.

BUT why do they often disagree over the distance covered?  The Garmin seems more consistent, if I run the same 5mile route. BUT the Nokia will one day say I've run 4.9 miles and other day say its 5.2miles.

Which is more accurate and reliable?

Garmin is accurate. I did have the sports tracker on a N95, i also found it to be unreliable. I now use the Imapmyrun+ app on a iphone, much easier and simplier, about £2.99 i think the app was to buy, and there is a free one too, provided you have an iphone! It provides accurate data and also has the ipod facility!

I have a Garmin FR405 and it's great to run with. Accuracy is as good as GPS as a system gets, usually +/- 10 meters over a 10K distance. Forget Nokia and other halfmeasure solutions.

I'm going to be buying the 310 or the 405 in the morning... just have to decide which. FINALLY found a store that stocks them here in the UAE.
