I am looking for someone to train with for Chicago 08. This is my first marathon and am looking for someone to help motivate me on my long runs, especially through the winter months. Any help would be great.

Just a suggestion, as I see you live in Michigan. I would HIGHLY recommend the Grand Rapids Marathon for a first marathon experience. It's a great race. Very fun, friendly and fantastic!

Actually, I have personal reasons for choosing Chicago. Not sure if you heard, but a Michigan man passed away during the marathon. He was a co-worker of mine, and I am running my first in his honor.

Way to go man!  Best of luck with your trianing and hope the marathon goes very well for you.  I live in Westland (Metro Airport area) and read a lot about your friend.  I wanted to try and organize a run in his honor but was unable to get any feedback from anyone I tried to contact about it.  Anyway, best of luck with your training and hope you kick ass in Chicago! I am training for Bayshore in Traverse City.  If you happen to be in the Detroit area looking to get a run in, shoot me an e-mail:

Dizzle, thanks for the accomplishment, but, seeing how I just started running again after Chad's funeral, I doubt I'll kick much ass, I just wanna finish with dignity! My boss is running Bayshore four weeks after he does the Grand Island Trail Marathon (he's been at this a while and qualified for Boston on his first marathon!!!) Good luck, and I'll let you know if I'm in D-town.

    Dan,

Go to barc-mi.com  they have a few different running groups.  The dog pound is a popular one on Tuesday nights.
