Hello everyone.  I am new to the site and have been interested in buying a Garmin 305.  My big question though is whether or not you can download routes from mapmyrun.com onto the gps so that it will give you guidance while you run.  I love the routes that you can create on here and would love to have those on the GPS to run with.  Thanks for the help and a great website.

Great question and I have exactly the same one about the 305.

Also do you use Google for your terrain data in the elevation shot (and csv)?

I just got a garmin 305 for christmas and would love to be able to use that feature also. I hope someone has the answer!

Yes.  The mapmyrun routes can be saved as a certain file type that can then be uploaded into the Garmin via the software that comes with it.  It's pretty easy, if I remember correctly.  I have only done it once, though.

You can save your runs as "Garmin Course" and upload to your Forerunner 305.  Great way to see how fast you are compared to the last time you ran the course. Happy running

The guidance feature is rather crude and will not be like the Garmin mapping system that you would have in your car. Basically, there is a directional arrow that points you along the course.  However, the Garmin maps will not have side streets and such.  They only show the main roads.
