So what do you eat whilst training for a race?  I've only ever done shorter distances before so haven't really had to change my diet that much, but I'm training for a half marathon at the moment and my body is craving food ALL THE TIME and I'm worried I'm not eating the right stuff to satisfy the cravings

Anyone got any good race-preparations recipes they'd like to share?

I'm a whiz at cooking Indian and Chinese food but I can't imagine they are that good at prepping your body for a race

One idea: I like to make a spinach-rice dish. I make a huge batch then freeze it in portions. I eat it as a main meal, but you can use it as a side if you need meat. Even if you don't like spinach, it's good (according to my son). Cook frozen chopped spinach according to package and drain. Make 2 cups rice (i use brown). Meanwhile, saute on medium heat (in 2 TBS olive oil) 4 minced cloves of garlic and 1/2 c chopped onion until soft (5 to 8 min). Add spinach to pan, adding spices (I use salt, pepper, pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg). Cook for a few minutes making sure everything is mixed well. Mix spinach mixture and rice, add grated cheese (i use parm). Mix well and serve. I also like to add sunflower seeds and flax seeds, but they're optional. Hope that helps

    Hi B Grrrrl,

Go with low GI foods as they will "stick" to you keeping you satisfied for longer.

These foods take longer to digest and will help stop you from snacking.

In general for all foods, the less processed the better. Fresh fruit/veg/legumes and meat.

You can always google low GI food to see what suits you.

    Hope this helps
