    Hi all ,

after years of running all my long weekend runs off road in basically what you would class as road shoes I have deicided to start looking at specific trail shoes . I am 6ft tall and weigh 175lbs or 12 stone 7lbs or 75kgs . I have a neutral gait and run on loose gravely paths and very muddy and hilly woodland I would like a lightish shoe preferably under 300 gms , fairly cushioned and with a very good grip on the sole . Any ideas on models . Also I live in the UK so Us models may be different to the Uk .

    cheers

    Dazza,

Best bet is to take a trip down to your local running shop & see whats available.

I run Cross Country & use inov8 mudclaws because the mud is litterally over ankle deep on some courses, no cushioning but loads of grip.

Sounds like you need an intermediate shoe like a walshthat can be used on soft ground & on gravel paths....the choice is endless when you start looking.

My road shoes are ASICS & I love them, my next buy will be some ASIC intermediates for off road stuff......

    Good luck.

    Nige.

I would find your neighborhood outdoors store. They would be more likely to have running shoes designed for the trail. Here are a few brands that have excellent reputations w/on trail performance:

    Salomon
    La Sportiva
    Merrell
    Montrail
    The North Face
    Vasque

    Hope this helps,
