I have tried several times to log my workout for Feb 3 but I keep getting an "X" next to the "activity detail".  I am unable to match it with anything.  I wonder if it is my computer acting funny or if it is an error with the site.  I have never had this problem before.

Oh, and the Giants are the best football team.

I've been trying to log a workout since the 2 Feb and I get no "Activity detail" to input (I use FF2). Why don't you guys just allow tagging for fields like "Describe this workout" "What general type of workout was this" "Activity detail"?  I can't figure out the difference between the first two anyway. It's too form-heavy for what is after all only personal rating data. Tagging would be more appropriate and flexible.

yea, I have the same problem myself. I have just been using Internet Explorer to log my runs in the meantime.

Although, I would really appreciate being able to log my miles with FF again

I just logged my saturday run using FF and had no problems with the Activity Select ...

    Questions:

    1) are you selecting a custom activity type?

    2) are you typing a couple letters and then selecting a type?

    3) are you just clicking in the text field and waiting for the list before selecting a type? (no typing)

    4)  What if you clear your browser cache?

    Let me know ... The reason why we do this Activity Detail is we really want to allow people to create and track custom workout types.  Maybe we should have a preference that let's people use a simple field? maybe route, time taken, and type {walk, run, ride, other}

What other fields would yo want to see in this 'simpler' form?

    Cheers - Kevin

Hey Kevin, I think the idea is good, I just think that maybe it should not be mandatory. When I input logs from work (using IE), it never seems to work and I end up having to wait til I get home to input the run using Firefox. I don't know what would be the problem but I tried IE at home too and it still didn't work. Again, its a great feature but the fact that it is required doesn't strike me as neccessary.  The odd thing here is that I am having the problem with IE instead of FF.

I just tried to enter my run after clearing out my enitre history, cookies, and temp files.  I am at work using IE and still have the same problem.  I did not have this problem here at work before trying it last night.  I also use IE at home but I guess I could download FF.  I have not tried to record anything at home in a little while but I will when I get home in the morning after work.

When I am typing into the field nothing shows up at all.  Before a list would appear as I started typing and if it did not recognize my typing I was asked if I wanted to creat a new detail.  Now nothing shows up at all and when I try to go to step 2 I get an  "X" next to the field.

any other suggestions?  I will download FF tomorrow when I get home if IE does not work for me at home.

I have the same probem as Jon only with FF.  After selecting "workout general type" all I get  when I click "show  matches" on A-Detail is a pop up with "this is the only match from workout type list" nothing else and I can't proceed. If I try to type in something in the field I also get the "x" and can't save or go to step2.

Then I logged on with IE and it worked. "show matches" produced a drop-down list. And a pop-up with "create a new workout type" something I've never had with FF.

Kevin I agree that these fields needn't be mandatory. Lets face it this kind of detail is subjective. One day I feel I had an easy run the next a cardio workout and the next a long run and I may have done the same times on the same track. Thats why I suggested tagging

Even the objective data: where, time, heartrate, shoes and so on needn't be mandatory. I mean I may just want to keep track of where or when I run so the rest is irrrelevant to me.

By the way thanks for a great site. I hope this gets sorted so I dont have to use IE to logon

I'm going to reiterate that I love the option Kevin, being able to compare Easy Runs, Long Runs, Treadmill Runs, etc is awesome. Yet, I do experience difficulties when using IE and always get an x with no options to select from.  Is there a way to make it optional and let those of us use it who are not getting the difficulties?

I want to say that I agree with cc4life07, I do love the site.  It has been a great motivator for me to try and keep up with my training.

I tried to log my activity at home and had no problems.  It worked the first time (using IE and I did not have to download FF).  Maybe it is something with the computer at work.

    Thanks

Kevin - my Activity Detail has not been working for a few days, which in turn has not allowed me to save training. Tried your tip of clearing the cache and now it's working fine.  Great when a plan comes together! Thanks.

I'm unable to utilize the software if I cannot get past this step.

anyway to bypass?...I've tried entering multiple 'activities' with nothing getting me any further.

    thx-

I like to scroll down an pick something, but as soon as I try to scroll it disapears weather I click on the scroll bar or the arrow button on the bottom.  it worked much better before the add your own pop up.

Please! Don't make that Activity Detail mandatory! Or, if you just HAVE to keep it mandatory, at least pre-populate it with a value like "No detail" that is guaranteed to work. I am like all the others -- I can't enter my runs! Waaaahh -- I have a bunch of runs saved in here, and now I have to abandon everything and use some other site.
