I'll be in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and have never ran there. Is it relatively safe? I know it's not pedestrian friendly but some of you might have some feedback for me? I'll be staying at the Rio. Any routes for me? Help apprecieted
i did some runs in vages back in january. Did some early morning runs as my jetlag kept me awake. Basically jsutup and down the road infront of my hotel. Not verynice but did the job. Didnt findany nice places to run there.
Vegas is not a runner friendly city. Just came back. Too many cars, people and pollution. I did go to Red Rock Canyon about 15 miles from Vegas. Very nice park with good trails. Advice to all, during your next trip there, if you can, try red Rock.
I was just in Vegas in February and I find the Strip is very runner friendly in the morning. From dawn til about 8 - 9am, the sidewalks a pretty empty. I imagine everyone is still sleeping off the effects of a night filled with activities they can't take home with them.
I got out on the strip from 6 - 7am and the only other people out there were other joggers. It made for some very impromptu jogging partners.
Running on Las Vegas Blvd. is the safest. I would run no later than 9am. From the Rio, run down to the Blvd. and down towards NY, NY. Also, check with hotel. Sometimes they post running routes from the hotel. I know the Westin has a couple to running routes posted on their site.
I was there last week. If you run on the Las Vegas Blvd between 6am to 7am, you'll be fine. I ran from the Ventian all the way to NY, NY. There's a lot of up and down steps.
Does anyone know of a group/community here on MapMyRun where people who travel a lot have discussions? I travel often and one of my favorite things to do is skip out on the dinners of french fries and hamburgers with co-workers, get out and get lost in a new city.
It would be usefull. Even if you map out your run, it would be nice to have more info like: areas of the city to avoid, sport shops, paths & parks where one can run...
We will be in Vegas in September and I plan on using the strip for my morning runs. I figured that would be the safest place for me to run and I have heard that it is a great place for a morning run.
