Hi Lex. I'm from New Zealand, and we get Bendon sports bras (an NZ brand) at pretty reasonable prices, but I'm betting they're more expensive in your part of the world.
If I'm not wearing my Bendon sports bra, I'll use a no-name brand underwire sports bra and team it with either a lycra crop top (e.g. Adidas) or a running singlet with built-in support - reduces the "bounce factor" significantly!
One thing I would definitely recommend is getting professionally fitted for the bra you buy - so many women wear the wrong size, and after a 5km run, you'll know all about it!! You should be able to find a store near you that offers a complimentary fitting service.
If you can stretch your budget, it's definitely worth buying one really good bra and doing some extra washing, than buying a couple of mediocre ones.
Hope that helps - good luck finding something that works for you

Hi! I'm from Dana Point, California
I am a 34 D and a sports bra is an absolute necessity when I do anything active. I found thee best sports bra at Walmart believe it or not. Bestform is the brand and it was made in Canada actually. I LOVE it and it was very inexpensive (14.00 US if I remember correctly).
Good luck on your hunt!
Hi Guys
Thanks for that! Just been to Wall-Mart
the socially conscious, environmentally aware part of me is beating myself up right now
BUT I got two reasonably good sports bras and an extra support top for 40 bucks
Can't argue with that!
Thanks again!
Hi
I am a big lady (40E) and have just invested in a shock absorber 4D+Max bra - its a fantastic buy (£27 uk) and well worth the money. I use it for all gym classes and running with no chafing and very little bounce. You don't say what size you are, but if you are bigger than a 'D' cup the 4DMax is the one to go for (the racer back gives the extra support) I have also heard that Enell bras are very good but I haven't tried these.
I have done a little digging on your behalf and you can get these from www.boobydoo.co.uk www.amazon.com, or www.shockabsorber.com
Hope this has been helpful, good luck in your search.

I got mine online since I do not shop at WalMart. I agree with Oprah, if you are large busted then a enell is a good choice. You can get them for a lower price from sportsclothsandmore.com They have a wide varity of sports bras.
I agree wholeheartedly. If you're a busty lass (like me, DDs here!) you need to spend the small fortune or risk getting two black eyes and/or a concussion! I got my Enell on sale for $45 direct from their website. This was well over a year ago and I don't regret splurging in the least. I wear it while jogging, biking, and swimming. (I have yet to find a swimsuit top that has the appropriate amount of coverage for my gals.)
So save up for a few months if you have to. Remember, you get what you pay for in the bra department.
Happy running all!

The only thing that I've found helpful in the chafing department is to slather on the vaseline before running. (Under, over, around edges and seams.) It's pretty icky, but works well. Thankfully, I normally only have to resort to this on really cold days, but I pay dearly for it if I don't.
Thanks to everyone else for the bra advice. I've been on the hunt for a new bra recently. I'm a 36D and I prefer crop top styles because the straps don't fall off my shoulders when I'm running, but I have been having some serious difficulty finding the right style in my size. I'll try a few of the websites you've mentioned.
