I'm looking to do some training on an outdoor track.  I wanted to check to see if anyone knows of tracks in Chicago that offer free access.  I live on the northside.

    Thanks for your help...

There's a small track (less than 200 m) over on Wrightwood and Ashland, but I'm not sure if its very good.  Unfortunately I don't know of other Northside city parks with outdoor tracks- sorry I can't be of more help!

There are two great tracks that I know of and use.

The Amundsen High School Track, which is located in Winnemac Park near Leavitt and Winnemac (easily accessible off the Damen bus, and lots of parking on nearby streets), and the track at Argyle and Francisco, near the river, which I believe is part of North Park University.

I run sprints at Chase Park (SE corner of Ashland/Lawerence) on their 1/5 mile track.  Excellent track.  I love having an outdoor track so close to home, not a lot of people use it ... and sprinting makes me feel young again.  Try this place.  They also have an outdoor pool for summer and outdoor tennis courts, too.  A hidden gem of a park.
