Im a freshman and Ive been using my asics training shoes when running my high schook track meets.  I run the 1600m and the 800m.

I bought Asics Middle distance track spikes, how much more do they help your time?  I really wanna break a 5:30 mile, and a 2:30 800m Im already at a 5:32 in the mile and a 2:32 in the 800m.

With the new spikes, will my chances of a new P.R be higher?

Wearing spikes is definately worth a few seconds over trainers. As close as you are you shouldn't have much trouble achieving those goals.

Good Luck! let us know how it goes...

yea, spikes help you out provided you don't have severe biomechanical issues. If you do have overpronation problems, I would recommend wearing some kind of flats with a medial post on the inside. Something like a Mizuno Wave Revolver, Saucony Grid Tangent, or Asics DS Trainer/Racer (if you can find the Racer anywhere).

Anyway, spikes definitely help out, especially in stuff like the 800/mile.

Well I finally broke 2:32 in the 800m and it was in practice! I ran a 2:25.8 Now i gotta bring down my mile time.

I could definately feel the difference between the two shoes, a big difference.
