    I have ordinary in-your-ear pieces for listening to my mp3 player while running. They keep falling out. Does anyone have any suggestions, please? How about those hook-over ones? Are they any better?

    I had the same problem.  I really like the cheap $10 Sony MDR-W08 headphones.  They are in-ear headphones with a traditional band over the head.  They stay on great, are comfortable (to me), and have surprisingly good sound.

    I like the ones that hook over your ears, like the Sony h.ear Clip-On In-Ear Stereo Headphones.  They're cheap, they don't fall out of my ears like the buds do, and they don't slide around on my head like the overhead bands.  I think they're comfortable, but you can't wear glasses or sunglasses with them - it gets a little too crowded behind your ears. :)

    Phillips Model HS520, love them.

    Fits over the ear/behind the head.  Can wear with a hat, they even have a reflective strip across the back if that helps.  Nice long cord when I attach my mp3 to my shorts behind my back.  $21.99 at Best Buy, they do have cheaper ones but these have served me well.

    I cant stand the ones that go over my ear so i went to the source and got ear buds that are almost like foamy ear plugs that you put into your ear.  I found the stay tight and have good quality of sound.  I believe they are made by Centrios.

    You can get some really cheap over the ear clip on ones at the Creative web site (Something like $4.99 on clearance).  I have been using them for about 6 months and really like them.

    I got a pair of Sennheiser PMX70's off Amazon...they're waterproof & stay well and truly welded to your ears but take some getting used to as they combine a rigid band, over-the-ear bits and are forward facing - oh and they're also bright green :-)

    i actually use the earbuds.  Now they do fall out for you, but I just go 80s style with the headband and it just holds them in for me.  I'm probably going to find a better solution later, but for now, this will work for me.

    i have some Sony MDREX85LPB which hace silicon, in the ear buds. they stay put when i run, and sound fantastic... long enough cord to comfortably reach the pocket on back of my running shorts... a little more expensive than basic earphones - £32.98 online, so maybe $50 ish going on conversion rates? although  suspect they would be a bit cheaper in the states (anything electrical usually is)...

    i wear a hat with them too, but incredibly comfortable and fantastic clarity of bass and treble...

    I have a set of Aiwa  HP-J30's that have been the best for me - they are the kind that go into your ear w/ the speaker facing forward and then wrap over your ears and behind your head.  They fit well, sound pretty good (who needs hifi when running) and have lasted well.

    I love Sony Earbuds, but the problem is I sweat too much and I flood them out and kill the speaker.  I tried the Nike Vapor's but don't like them.  They are a "ear clip" type but they wouldn't stay put - the speaker part is too big to fit tightly in my ear and the clip over the ear is too loose to hold them tight.

    Rock on.

    I'm a cheapskate and had the same problem. Rather than go out and buy different head sets, I took some old T-shirts and cut the sleeves off them. They fit tight enough on my head to keep the earphones in, and serve as a sweatband. Not very fashion conscious, but effective.

    I just use the apple earbuds, but my friend uses some special "athlete" headphones he found at Target for 30 bucks, they work well for him...good luck

    Try having them hang over your shoulders and back (instead of straight down onto the IPOD in the front).  This way you arms stay out of the way.

    My ipod earbuds don't fall out unless I accidently hit them with my arm.  Running the wire under my shirt really cuts down on the wire movemet and the buds stay put.  Running the wire down my shirt to my ipod also keeps my arms from inadvertantly knocking them out.Wink

    I have recently bought Sennheiser PMX-70's off amazon, they were £14/$27, which is well worth it in my opinion. They don't move around, don't get squelchy, waterproof,sweat-proof, over-ear clips and neckband. Feels weird at first and the music shots forward and not into your ears...but it works, the sound for me is great, and they suit the shapes of my ears.


    Several pairs of headphones I have tried just fall out or are too uncomfortable for my ears.Everyones are different, which makes finding headphones hard. I would definately reccomend these. Not sure about the ones witout the neckband, or the plugs, they are similarly priced.

    I have e-shure earphones (www.shure.com). They are quite expensive, but they were a worthwhile investment. They are noise cancelling, and they come with different ear buds that you can mold and form to fit inside your ear. They truly are amazing. Anyone who is serious about the audio quality of their music should look into them.

     I'm a tightwad when it comes to spending money, I have a Sansa player(got as a gift) & I bought $14 KOSS headphones from Wal-Mart they sound good, fit good. I don't like any kind that you put in your ear.

    I have   a $30 pair of the squishy in-your-ear headphones. Regular earbuds actually hurt my ears and fell out. The over-the-ear kind I felt sacrificed sound quality and comfort.     I use cheap headphones and just leave them around my neck and crank the sound on my iPod. I can hear the music but I can also hear cars etc. Earbuds don't fit me and I don't like not being able to hear other noises around me. But the sound quality is not great and it can be hard to hear the music. Not the ideal situation.

    I agree with theBishopp. The headphones he is referring to are awesome! They are the one's I use on a daily basis (both for running and when I'm not running). Worth the investment.

    Like Dr Tom, I have SennHeiser PMX 70s also and I love them.  They have great bass and never move when I run.  They also fit well with my baseball cap. Got 'em at Circuit City for $50.

    I had the same problem for a while. And I tend to break headphone quite often. Usually is I broke my headphones, I would use the Sony headphones that wrap around the back of the head. I finally found some great headphones. Skullcandy Smoking Buds Ink'd Earbuds. Sometimes they fall out, but they stay most of the time. Its great because once you put those in, you can't hear the outside. You can only hear yourself think for once. These things are awesome. They also have different sizes you can changes to match your ear size.

    Good sound, great price.  Fit secure (if your heads not too small, a problem with the ear hook style)

     I have finally found a great pair of Sennheiser in ear phones.  They cost around £30 but well worth it.  Quality is excellent and no falling out! they come with additional covers which will suit any shape of ear.

     I brought mine from Innovations magazine but I'm sure you can get them on line.

    as well as running i cycle to work and although for safety i shouldnt i do use headphones.....so will the ones with bands also fit on with a cycle helmet [Giro type]....
