I just received a portable GPS  unit as a gift and was wondering if there is a way to transfer my rides to the unit.

I would like to know the answer for this as well. I'm doing searching now.

That depends on what type of GPS you have. You can if you have a Garmin 305,605, or 705. I have a 705. Not sure if there are any other units that will allow you to upload.

A Garmin 305 forerunner can directly communicate with mapmyrun/ride with the carmin communicator plugin which can be downloaded from the garmin site.

MMR supports the plugin. So you don't have to convert the .crs or .tcx files to .gpx or .kml to import them in MMR.

I don't have other gpx gear, so i don't know if there are other communication tools which MMR supports.

But, if you wants to use your gps to do better training, i would advice to use an anlyticstool instead of MMR. MMR is nice for logging your track or your training, but analising your traininresults can be done better with for instance sportracks (http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/) or some other program.

Hi, I'm new here and found this site because I just purchased a Satmap Active 10.  I live in the UK and know that it is available in Europe, but not sure about the US and Canada.  Anyway I can easily download my routes into MMR and can upload them back again.  The only think is it seems to loose the elevation data when I transfer it back so will have to look into this.

I bought the Satmap to log bike rides and give me a route planner for cycle tours.  I plan to go to Holland next year and have found a Dutch website with all the data on their cycles paths, which is great, now I need to get the map of Holland that Satmap is producing early next year and I will be away.
