    Hi all,

I need some advice on an injury I have picked up. I am due to run  a half marathon on May 26th which is two weeks away.

On Monday my left foot was slightly sore so I went for a long bike ride so as not to aggrivate it but I decided to run onTuesday. During the run my foot felt fine and even afterwards but the next day the left side of my left foot was bruised and painful to walk on.

I have continued cycling all week but am due to run 10 miles on Saturday with some friends, my question is should I go ahead and run or wait untuil the pain and bruising go away? Thanks in advance

Des - I'm not a doc, but I'd definitely wait until the bruising is gone. Bruising is a clear indication of some type of trauma, be it a sprain, muscle tear or even a broken bone. Something that has torn blood vessels and feet are notoriously slow to heal. I wouldn't worry too much about the half either. I pulled a calf muscle 30 days before running a half this past weekend. I only put in 27 miles running in those 30 days, but did time on an elliptical trainer and stationary bike to keep up the cardio. I ended up less than 2 minutes off my best time in the past decade. Ice up, put your feet up and let it heal or you may be much worse off.
