I live in a small town and I only know 1 other women who runs, but she does marathons I have just started and can't quite run a mile yet!

I want to connect with someone on line to help keep me motivated, to challenge me, to hold me accountable!

I can't go online everyday, but want someone to connect with.

I try to walk 3-4 times a week, run 1 time a week, (i have 2 girls that I take in a running stoller) garden at least 2 times a week (right now less than that since our garden is just being planted) and do maybe 1 exercise video a week.

Anyone else from a small town and needs a online running partner?

    Hi Amy!

I too live in a small town - very small.  I have been running only two years, have done a marathon through Team in Training - but don't run/train like that now!  Thank heavens!

I started exactly where you are!  You need to connect with the Jeff Galloway website and get his ideas.  You build up to running with a run/walk ratio.  It saved my life both physically and mentally as I built endurance.  I still use it for long runs, only up to about 40 minutes solid without walking.  But that's taken two years.....and I'm not a "push through pain" person.  Once it's uncomfortable for awhile I look at my watch and think "oh, look at the time, better walk for a minute."  Totally!!

I have grown to love hating running.  I love it but it has never gotten alot easier for me.  Guess that's where that tough person kicks in.  But I love, love, love the daily challenge it gives me and the way I feel afterwards.

I also have a family so life gets in the way sometimes...frequently.  But I push to do 3 runs a week with a long run on the weekends.  I go back and forth with the whole weight-training thing.  Hate counting to 10 3 times for a set.  ADHD I guess.  But I'm working on that.

Just pat yourself on the back for even starting.  The beginning of running is overwhelming and discouraging at times.  You CAN DO IT!!!  I have found a great support system locally - but they are definitely WAY above me in training....God luv 'em, they always come back for me when I get way behind.  AND, if I increase my time to keep up I will miss having the crew cheer me on at the finish line!!!  Someone's gotta be at the back of the pack.

    Keep running!

    Hey Amy

Well I'm not in a small town but haven't found anyone round here that walks.  I'm a walker not a runner!! lol Every time I try and run my knees and shins kill so figured I'm getting a good workout walking and not feeling intense pain.  I've only just started the last few weeks but have already felt the benefit and have entered myself for a sponsored walk at the end of the month, it's given me a great insentive to keep it up.

    Keep on going!!

Hi, Amy.  I am a walker/runner in the beginning stages as well.  I live in a decent sized town but don't know anyone on my level--everyone else is much faster than me!  I would love to be an online running partner with you!  I am a 35 year old female with 2 girls also.  Let me know if you're interested.

I have just turned 30 and I have a 2 year old daughter but I would love to start running, but like you all, I don't have anyone to go with!  Being an online buddy partner sounds like a good idea.  I live in the UK where are you all from?

Hi Amy!  I do a run/walk combo.  I started with the Crim organization here in Michigan that train with the Jeff Galloway method (see above post) and I've done it for two summers now.  I'm not a long distance runner (who has the time?) but TRY to do it enough to get into shape.  I just had my second son three months ago and it's hard to get back into the swing of things.  Right now I'm only up to 2 miles but I"m increasing each time I'm out.  I'd love to have an online group that I can be accountable to.  Count me in!

Hi Amy,  I live in a small town as well and find it hard to stay motivated with my running.  I love how I feel after I run but to do it often enough is very hard.  Count me in for an online buddy.  I would like to keep it up so that i can loose some weight and stay in shape.  An online group sounds good as well.

    Hi there Amy

i live in a tiny town and have also like evryone on here JUST started running...... i have been walk /running for a few weeks now and am loving the progression that im getting but find that generally life seems to get in the way at times and motivation lacks which right now is definitely not what i want!

i think the idea of an online group is fantastic and that way we can all support and encourange and log our progression along the way. its also a great idea because for anyone who is having trouble or difficulty with anything there are alot more people who can brainstorm and help find the solution!

i dont know about you but knowing that i have to log on here and note my progress is enough to keep me going when i start to feel the burn.

lets keep this posted and come up with a good solution, in the meantime, happy running!

     christie.
