I've always worn them but lately I've noticed a lot of other runners not using them.  That's begin to make me wonder what's going on there?  What kind of advantages do no socks really have?  At least I'm well aware why I wear socks.  They help me out a lot in the Winter since 99% of the time I wear shorts.  Below zero weather is when I begin to draw the line. I tried running without socks when I was in high school. Made my shoes stink (more than normal) and gave me blisters. Don't do it any more.

    That's what I was thinking.  I wouldn't consider it.

I don't wear socks when I wear spikes (and sometimes racing flats), but other than that I wear em

When i ran cross country in High School, I tried no socks with spikes a few times.  I ended up tearing skin off both of my big toes; no blisters, just tore the skin right off.

Lets just say thats the last time I tried that.

I wear socks, usually wright socks or the like.  Sometimes I wear the really short ones that you can't see so it looks like I am not wearing any.

I always wear socks, preferably made from Coolmax material with a little arch support.  I used to not wear socks with racing flats for XC, but those days are gone.

I always wear socks...seems like blisters and other things would be a problem. I have a new pair of dri-fit socks that I'm trying for my long runs...so far I like them a lot. I'm thinking you see a lot of people like randy....short socks you can't see.

I have the same experience as several of the users above.  I used to like the feel of no socks when racing.  I never had too much of a problem with blisters although my feet did sweat and my shoes smelled awful.  I switched to asics no show running socks, and it feels like wearing nothing and my feet stay dry.

Could they be wearing those shortie socks?  That are almost like liners?  I think not wearing socks would be gross!

Not wearing socks WOULD be gross!  And your feet would be rubbed raw!

Whenever possible, I avoid wearing socks.  Shoes too, for that matter.  Both of them are very constrictive.  Bare feet never get hot, sweaty, or stinky.  And you learn to run with less impact, it's done wonders for my chronic hip injury.

    No joke.
