So I have run two 1/2 marathons, and am running in the Tempe PF Changs 1/2 Marathon on 1/18/09.

I just signed up to do the full marathon in OC on 5/02/09.

Any tips from vets out there on transitioning from the 1/2 to the full? I'm exciting, but a little scared!!

    Thanks!

I have finished my first Marathon last month in Philly with finish time 3:38:30. I never run and half or full Marathon race before and I am not young either. I would say depending on your training and determination. It should be fine. Running conservatively for your first. That was I did. After I finished, I thought that it is much easier than what I thought (was told). I would say that I will run much fast next time. Where is OC Marathon?

    Regards,

OC = Orange County - so LA. I live in Phoenix and am used to pretty flat, fast runs.... so I figured this would be similar, but not as HOT as Phoenix in May.

first of all, OC is very hilly.

second, you might want to watch your frequency of running full marathons.  even seasoned vets usually only run 2 marathons a year.  if it's your first one you need to take 6 months until your second one.

read this....it's like the bible for distance runners.
