What is your favorite part of a run? Whether its a race or a training run, there is a favorite part. And its not the route I'm asking about. What moment in a run is your favorite regardless of the route or race?

For me its when I lean into a turn. I like my routes and races to be technical, that is with many turns because I love it when I lean into a turn and give it an extra effort. Why the extra effort? Well, on a turn I will slow down naturally so I give the extra effort for the turn and a few steps after it just to maintain my pace. I love the turns!

about the fifth stride into a run. sounds weird doesnt it? :P

i guess its beacuse the first step I always feel like "oh boy here we go again another 14km run...yay :(   " but by the time i get to my fifth stride im like "alright let's make this burn, let's feel the pain, feel the hurt, gonna get stronger, faster, gonna be better than everyone else"...and then i just take off from there and enjoy the rest of the run! :)

    My favorite part?

I guess it's when you get that exhilarating feeling like you are floating on air and can run forever.  Doesn't happen too often but that's the feeling that keeps me coming back.

Like the run this weekend.  I was out doing 12 miles and had a strong pace going the whole way.  You get nervous and wonder when it will end and it doesn't.  Then on the last mile, I felt fresh and pushed it.  It just felt awesome.  I felt like I could just keep going and going.  That the best feeling in the world, nothing like getting high on running.

    Hey MalticeFalcon

I just experienced that moment in my run last night. I had planned on running  6 miles, but at mile 5 I felt really good, as if the effort belonged to someone else and my running was effortless. I banged out 2 more without a problem and ran an 8 miler on a cloud. Love that runners high (and those turns).

I always race my running partner and sprint at the end. Thats my favorite part because you're moving so fast but it seems so effortless. Unfortunatly it only lasts a few seconds.

............mine has to be when you pass the half-way mark of a long distance, known route, especially if the remainder is on the level, or downhill - it's at this point when you can push a little to see what you've got

My favorite part of my run is when there is a choice to go hard or go easy. When I choose to go hard whether it is up a hill, pick ups, or just to the next corner that momentum carries me through. I like the satisfaction of knowing I did not choose the easy way out, because nothing worth doing is easy.

For me it's the hunger pangs that start in the last half of the run and I spend the rest of the run planning what I'm going to scoff as soon as I get back.  Those last few miles seem to whizz by.  No matter what exciting concoctions I think of, it usually ends up being a stop off at a shop wondering round sweating over the fruit and veg section pondering before turning down the snacks isle and grabbing a lovely salty back of crisps which I then scoff while wondering back home, seasoned with extra added salt from my sweaty fingers and doing a few piffling stretches to show willing!

I love the part, usually about halfway into a long run, when I see the landscape passing me as if I were on a train. I realize it's me powering that engine!

I also love when I hit the finish and can have something cold to drink or on a really hot day, a popsicle!

Ah yes... AFTER THE RUN; forgot all about the nice cold pint of tropical high juice squash when I get home - better than sex (almost!)

Hmmm, interesting comments. I like the end of the run, well, when there's a mile to go say, and the satisfaction of doing 10 miles or so when you know you've got a stupidly busy lifestyle and job - yet you've still managed to fit it in.

This is so very cool.  I don't know how everyone found this post but it is awesome reading all the comments from other runners that feel the same way.  I like the runner's high.  When it comes it is the best feeling in the world ..... well maybe not quite the best if you know what I mean.

Today I did 5 miles at a fast pace and it was a good run.  It was one of those that your mind wants to go slower but your body just takes you and keeps you going faster and faster.  It was the best!
