    Hi there!

    I've just bought a Garmin Forerunner 50.

Does anyone know if there's any way to import data from the Garmin into MapMyRun and associate this information with runs that I have already mapped?

     Many thanks,

    T

Just click the Training Log tab.

On the left hand side you will see Add Activity.

Just under that there is a heading with: Supported Devices > GARMIN GPS.

    Click it.

Should tell you everything you need to know about importing the information.

I've tried this import, and it will not recognize the file format.  The exported file is a .tcx however the import function doesn't recognize it.

Data from my 305 imports well, but this includes GPS data (location etc...)  The forerunner 50 only has heart rate and distance if you have the foot pod.

Has anyone figured out how to get this to work for the Forerunner 50?

    I'm interested in this also.

It's kind of a hassle to keep 2 logs one GarminConnect (without associated route/distance) & one on Mapmyrun (without associated HR).

I know spending the money on the 305 or 405 would solve this but...

Can you submit a help request using the contact us link at the bottom of the page? When you get an autoreply please attach your TCX files.

Also, are you using the route editor to import or the importer found under the training log?

I also would love to have mapmyrun work with the Forerunner50. It would free me of Nike Plus!  I would think it is very similar to the Nike Plus interface, except it could add heart rate in addition to distance and pace data.

I'm also eager to use my Forerunner 50 with Mapmyrun, I love to see where I ran and can't do that with the Garmin website as it doesn't allow you to draw a map. I submitted a tcx file so let's hope that they update the site soon.

I would like to offer the suggestion that if MMR is going to develop an import for the TCX file, that MMR would also consider building in the ability to capture and report on the track points in this file. This is extremely useful information as you can track your pace/speed and heart rate over the course of the run/ride and do some serious analysis in how distance, routes, and elevation (when combining the specific track points with MMR's ability to show elevation at a specific point on the course) affect you. I found this in-depth analytical data very helpful when I was doing speed work, something that simply pulling average and fastest pace doesn't afford you.

I don't know if anyone's still having trouble importing data, but you can import files saved through the Garmin training centre if you go to the 'History' section, highlight the date in the panel on the bottom left.  Then go to the File tab, go to export and click on 'Export 23/4/2009' - this will let you save it as a tcx file, which the importer funtion on here should then recognise.

I think the importer won't recognise files with letters at the front or something, as I tried doing this by saving it as a history file, and the application was having nothing to do with it.  The other way seems to work though.

    Liz!

I didn't know you could do this! Thank you!

I just got your post now. Checking to see if MMR ever implemented this.

I have just got the Forerunner 50, with HRM only... I have no problem uploading the heart rate information to MMR, but I can't seem to match it with a route - either a new one or one previously created. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks
