I have my first half marathon in one week, and my shoes have worn out!  Last weekend during my long run, my feet hurt and it felt like I was running barefoot.  So I went to Roadrunner Sports and did the whole foot analysis and plunked down the $ for new shoes.  Well, the shoes didn't feel great on my first run so I went back and exchanged for another pair.

The new pair feels great and I've run in them a couple of times (7 miles total) and have been wearing them everywhere.

Here's my question:  are they going to be broken in by next weekend?

I'm concerned about injury - since this is my first race, my goal is only to finish.  What do you think?  Should I just stick with my old shoes for now or keep trying to break the new ones in?  Should I really be concerned here?

     Thanks for your help!!

I've never had to break in new shoes. (I wear Asics GT-2120). Starting from the first day I wear them they feel great. If you've had problems in the past with getting injured due to unbroken in shoes, and then I'd be careful. But I'd guess that the injuries you'd acquire from running the half marathon in your old shoes would be far worse than any injuries you could acquire from your new shoes.
