If I try and program in a run where I do multiple laps the total distance is reported back as if I'd only done a single lap. Pace calculations seem fine however.

while I am looking at a rear wheel bike computer, I am now a slave to the indoor trainer for part of my training. Is there some ratio of time vs. mileage to equate to?

I know that when I spend an hour watching a spinervals dvd I feel like I do the same or greater mileage compared to the road. Any comments or thoughts. I still get out on the weekend, but I felt overtrained after two nights indoors then a road trip on consecutive nights.

Help!! My burning shins!

Hi all!! I have been running for about a year now and the issue that I have come across lately is that about a mile into the run my shins will be on fire. I started slowing down on my runs because i realized that I was running too fast and wearing out too quickly. Not too sure if that causes the burning in the shins since my stride is shorter. I will stop and stretch and they seem to be somewhat ok for the rest of the run. I have tried exercising them at work by tracing the alphabet with my toes but doesnt seem to be helping. I dont think that i have shin splints but just weak shin muscles.

Any advice??

Any one have a remedy? I notice that it is worse on the treadmill and I typically end up having to stretch them about 4 times before i can run without stopping.

I have put plenty of seat miles outdoors this year. I left the indoors on purpose; however, I now am riding a trainer once again to supplement the lack of daylight.

Is there a transferable ratio of time/mileage? I have been riding to some spinervals dvds and spend at least an hour up to two in the trainer. I feel like the indoor spin puts much more stress on my legs over the time in the seat, that could just be me. I am looking hard at a bike computer for rear wheel; but in the interim I was just seeing in anyone has some imput

Hi all,

Question regarding aerodynamic wheels. I'm a 80kg (176pounds) triathlete currently training for the IRONMAN in Nice, France for 2010. As I'm currently cycling on low-cost training wheels to save some costs for spring-time, I'm wondering what kinda wheels would suit my triathlon bike.

I've been looking around on the internet, reading loads of reviews of ZIPP / Easton / HED / Planet-X / Mavic / Reynold - wheels but I'm getting confused by all the different responses which range from 'this is ****' to 'I LOVE THESE WHEELS'. So I was wondering if anybody has experience with any of these brands.

Furthermore I've read that most wheels are meant for TT and Triathlons which means flat courses etc. Now the IRONMAN in Nice is everything BUT flat, so how do these aerodynamic wheels react to climbing? Is there a certain tradeoff regading the hight of the rims? (for example ZIPP 303 on the front with 808 on the back?)

I hope that there are some nice thoughts out there, people who can tell me about their experiences with any of these brands or can join the discussion on this topic.

Regards,

Paddy, Oxford, UK

As A ride organiser, I would love to put together the perfect event for riders, so what would you like, A real tough ride, with plenty of Hills?. A flat long ride. A mini tour de france, carried out over a few weekends, with KOM competition etc. A long distance relay race perhaps.

What about back up, full pro back up with mechanics, Great feed stations, multi point timing chips to monitor each hill climb. Personal real time live tracking. Banners at each mile marker. City centre finish with crowd support.

Give aways perhaps, good quality cycle tops, water bottles, tea shirts etc

So put together your perfect event, and perhaps one day you can ride it!
