Nordic Walk Now!

Leki WalkingFrom Suzanne N.
LEKI Employee and Contributing MapMyWalk User

As one of the single most beneficial types of exercise, Nordic walking can improve any person’s health and fitness level. In 2000, Nordic walkers came out of the woodwork in Europe. Finally the message spread to North America where thousands of people (soon millions) discovered the health benefits.

Using LEKI Nordic walking poles for fitness or stability facilitates a full body experience, an interaction with the pull of gravity that creates bone density in the entire body, not just through the lower extremity. Poles spread out your effort to balance strength demands throughout the entire body. Read More

The 5K - It Was Time

5K TimeFrom Sylvia C.
Contributing MapMyRun User

I have put off running for years. In my mind, maybe I was still a fat kid who didn’t want to try it and look dumb. I don’t know why it was so scary. I ran a 7.5-minute mile in high school once. I probably run quite a few miles in every one of my epic tennis matches. Maybe it was the length and constancy of the activity. I couldn’t imagine doing something athletic for minutes and hours strung together continuously and enjoying it (even though I’ve played a 4.5-hour tennis match before!). Read More

A Stretch For Love: What Yoga Does for Us

Yoga StretchFrom Kristen
Contributing MapMyFitness User

Athletes. To reach our peak performance, we train. Our bodies endure. We push for stamina, more agility, balance, strength, and flexibility. We want to be explosive, to win, to persevere. How on Earth does standing completely still help us to get there? It gives us the chance to channel the love that we have for each part of our body and say "Thank you." Our bodies work for us all day, all night, every training session, every marathon, every triathlon, and every hike. Read More
