FAQ:

What does the money raised go to?
The money that is raised by those running the race and attending the concert goes to assist the Des Moines Fire Department's Welfare Fund. The Welfare Fund is used to assist firefighters and/or their families in times of tragedy as well as emergency. The fund has been set up to assist with the immediate financial needs of Des Moines Firefighters and their families who have been killed or injured. Although the city covers most of the immediate expenses related to Line of Duty deaths and injuries, the Welfare Fund can assist the immediate family with financial assistance for things like travel expenses for family members during the recovery process of an injured firefighter. The Welfare Fund also makes sure families of fallen firefighter are not forgotten. The Fund is used to assure non-adult children of fallen firefighters have holiday gifts each year. These are just some examples of what the Welfare Fund ! does for our members. The Fund is used for the sole purpose of assisting Des Moines Firefighters and their family. This Fund does not go outside of our department.

Is the course certified?
Yes. If you are a less experienced runner or plan to walk the course, please start toward the back so the competetive runners are up front. Thank you.

1 ticket to the Firefest concert to be held that evening on Court Avenue Bridge from 5-11pm.
