About:: Come downtown early on the 4th to watch and cheer on the participants in the Bluegrass 10,000, a 6.2 mile footrace through downtown Lexington. Each year for more than 31 years, 3,500 men, women and children have made this race part of their 4th of July celebration. Children in strollers, roller skaters, rollerbladers, and skateboarders may not register for the 10K run but are welcome to register for the one-mile Fun Run. Sorry no pets. Registration for the fun run will be held at the same time as registration for the 10K. The fun run begins at the intersection of Elm and Short Streets. The finish line is at the intersection of North Mill and Main Streets.
