location: Portland, Maine distance: 8.01 mi. | Route Type: Run created by: description: A very, very hard run through the steepest inclines of urban Portland, Maine. This run starts with an easy jaunt at sea level and then begins a climb to Munjoy Hill, the highest point in town. Down again to near sea level and then two short and steep hills up Fox Street up to North Street. After a mile or so of descent and flats of Marginal Way and Deering, the run rises to Maine Medical Center on the very steep Deering Road. The final assault is after a downhill and 1.5 mile flat run (if not windy) along commercial street to the infamous Clark Street. This is probably the steepest grade street in Portland. Mercifully, there is about a .75 mile downhill coast to the Port Harbor Hotel. This run is called 4B becuase there are 4 hills and each is quite the "bi$ch." location: Portland, Maine distance: 20.01 mi. | Route Type: Run created by: description: Nice views of Scarborough Marsh and Higgins Beach. The part along Shore Road is a portion of the Beach to Beacon 10K course. You might want to run in reverse...Shore Road has some pretty good hills that might be better at mile 5 than mile 15. Enjoy Maine!! Shep View | Print | Bookmark | Write a Story | Tell-A-Friend | Send a Message |

location: Portland, Maine distance: 4.01 mi. | Route Type: Run created by: description: Only 4 miles but for some reason one of the most painful lunchtime runs we do. Nice views off the Casco Bridge and a few minutes on the greenway make it scenic, but for soem reason brutal. View | Print | Bookmark | Write a Story | Tell-A-Friend | Send a Message |
