2008 Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon Course location: Detroit, Michigan distance: 26.25 mi. | ( 1 votes / 24541 views) Route Type: Run created by: detroit-marathon on 08/26/2008 description: The 2008 marathon course is similar to last year\\'s course, with the following exceptions:\\n\\nDue to the extensive construction near the Ambassador Bridge (Gateway Project), we will use Fort St to get to the bridge entrance. We can\\'t use Bagley St. through Mexicantown this year. The route through the temporary toll plaza will be tight, so we ask for your patience. To make up for the shorter distance to the bridge, we\\'ve added to the route in Corktown by going down the residential streets of Leverette and Labrosse. Near Mile 15, we will feature a section of the newly constructed Detroit RiverWalk (between Jos Campau and Mt. Elliott. Finally, we\\'ve made some changes at the very end of the race in downtown., using Lafayette Blvd instead of Monroe St. through Greektown, and up Randolph to Broadway (instead of Farmer) before heading home to the finish on Woodward, near Campus Martius Park. \\n\\nThe mile markers on this map, taken from satellite photos, may vary slightly from the USATF certification measurements on the ground (This is the final course). 2008 Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Half Marathon Course location: Detroit, Michigan distance: 13.18 mi. | ( 1 votes / 12384 views) Route Type: Run created by: detroit-marathon on 08/06/2008 description: The 2008 half marathon course offers several new features. Due to the extensive construction at the Ambassador Bridge and surroundings (Gateway Project), we will use Rosa Parks to W. Fort St as the route to the bridge (Mile 1 to 3). We cannot use Bagley through Mexicantown this year. The route through the temporary toll plaza is tight and twisting, so we ask for your patience. This new route to the bridge is somewhat shorter,so to make up the distance, we added distance in Corktown (Mile 10 to 12)along the residential steets of Leverette St and Labrosse St. Other than that, the course is the same... featuring the route over the Ambassador bridge into Windsor, Ontario, Canada, along the waterfront in Canada, through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel (our Underwater Mile), around Corktown and back to Michigan Ave for the bell lap into downtown for a Campus Martius Park finish on Woodward Ave. The mile markers shown here, based on GPS from satellite photos, may vary slightly from the USATF certification markers on the ground.
