Perhaps the 2nd largest test track in the world. about 2700 foot elevation. Perhaps the biggest circle track on earth. Nine miles around, larger than the famous Nardo Ring in Italy which is only 7.5 miles. Bigger than the Firestone Track 7.7 miles just to the south east of it near Fort Stockston. So two supersized tracks near each other in Texas. Track looks in very good condition, do not see cracks like at the 5 mile circular Goodyear track in San Angelo, TX. One online source says the facility was built in 1961. A 2005 article says it is now a academic-industry-public collaboration between the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), Applied Research Associates (ARA) and the Pecos Economic Development Corporation (PEDC). Why arent NASCAR teams testing here with the current ban on testing at NASCAR tracks outside of races? Could they test here? It is 3 lanes, banked suitable for speeds of 200 mph according to an article.
