Amsterdam London via Chunnel
This route visualizes the 'Run The Chunnel' group challenge on Nike+. It takes challenge members from Amsterdam (start Dam Square) to London (finish London Bridge) via the 'Chunnel, a 31 mile (50.5 km)-long rail tunnel beneath the English Channel at the Straits of Dover, connecting Coquelles near Calais in northern France to Folkestone, Kent, England. This Challenge can be found at: http://forums.nike.com/thread.jspa?threadID=836&tstart=0 - More tunnel info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_Tunnel - Route map: http://gvda.blogspot.com/2006/12/new-nike-challenge.html For this very special, once in a lifetime occasion, one of the tunnel's three 'pipes' - the service tunnel - will be specially prepared and cleared for all joining Nike+ challengers, during january, february and march 2007. I M P O R T A N T : Our tunnel clearance lasts only till the 31st of march 2007, all runners who haven't cleared it by then will be removed from the challenge (or get run over by a train). In other words: you have to clear 420 km before the 1st of april 2007. Otherwise it's SUDDEN DEATH... (That's about 4 km a day, to put things in perspective) Some regulations: - Challenge starts the 11th of december 2006 - 420 km have to be completed before 1st of april 2007. If not runner will be removed from challenge - Challenge ends when all (remaining) runners complete the 535 km We take no more new challengers after the 31st of december 2007! Happy running and get some tunnelvision! Guido, Amsterdam, The Netherlands - a 332.6 mi cycling route in Amsterdam, the Netherlands
