I foolishly believed that I could get by without a car in this town. You. Can. Not. You need a car. Sidewalks mysteriously end into grass, and riding on the side of the road can bring you dangerously close to the side of a truck. It was hotter than the sun outside, I didn't bring enough water, my backpack weighed 20 pounds, I didn't wear sunblock, I only had one shoe on, I was wearing a blindfold, I have an intestinal disease - and many more reasons why I shoudln't have done this.
