Copy Of 2009 Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Half Marathon Course
We are moving the start/finish line areas from Washington Blvd and Campus Martius Park respectively to the Detroit Free Press building (W. Fort St at 2nd St)to accomodate our growth. We plan on finishing at the start line, which will allow us to provide better services for runners and spectators alike by combining resources. Last year's bridge construction is behind us, and the new ramp leading to the bridge will offer a much smoother transition. The course is similar to last year's course with the following exceptions: 1.) Since the new start line is one mile closer to the bridge, we have added one mile in the east side of Mexican Town (Lafayette to 18th St to Bagley) to make up the difference. 2.) We will use a section of Michigan Ave in Corktown, instead of Leverette St. and 3.) The marathon-half marathon split will take place at the south end of the Campus Martius Park circle, where the half runners will peel off onto Woodward and return via Congress and Washington Blvd to the Fort St finish. (Note that the distances are taken from satellite photos and GPS... we are in the process of measuring the course and will provide you with any updates on our website at www.freepmarathon.com.)
