Run Description
Going up the coastal trail it can be a bit windy and there is poison oak next to a few section in summer and fall but it is fantastic to get to the SCA junction as the freeway and freeway noise disappears (the contrast is why I start on the SF side of the bridge rather than driving to Marin) I've never seen more than a handful of people (and the very occasional horse) on this loop, so close to a huge city. I've done it mid day on a weekend and encountered as few as 4 in the headlands.

You can make it longer by taking Bobcat to Wolfback Ridge instead of Rodeo Valley to SCA. see http://www.nps.gov/goga/maps/pdf/map-mahe.pdf.

The elevation tool says >3000 feet total climbing but that can't be right. Only very short portions are more than 4-5% grade and I'd say maybe 1000' gain. I suppose I'll take a GPS someday...

Let's all thank the likes of Amy Myer (Her new book, "New Guardians of the Golden Gate" tells the story of how this became Golden Gate National Park instead of condos)
