- 5k route includes River, Neighborhoods, Killer Hills, Ellis Park. It starts at Ellis Park. The first mile is relatively flat to warm up. The second mile starts with rolling hills, levels out a bit, then hits you with one of the steepest hills in Cedar Rapids. After the 2-mile mark, it's almost all downhill from there, ending in Ellis Park near the river. Safety Notes: It is best to run westward on O Ave, since you can face traffic on the side of the road that has a shoulder. Right after the 2-mile mark, 20th St NW narrows and the sidewalk ends, making it critical to be seen by traffic.
