Mira Loma, California

I once was a 6'3" lean, athletic, 194lbs running and basketball machine...In the last 6 months I started a new job where I work a minimum of 60 hours a week and I have been too exhausted to workout or train. whats more I suffered a pulled calf muscle while playing basketball 2 months into the new job so all excersising stopped completely... I ballooned to 240 lbs. My diet was crappy and i could no longer see any of the definition in my legs, arms or stomach that I saw just months prior...To hell with that I'm getting back on my Leoniddas. If you have seen the movie 300 then you know what I mean...see you out on the trails

Profile

I am 6'3" my natural weight is about 210 lbs. I am a basketball player by nature. I took up running to stay in shape after college and quickly realized that I need a goal to work towards. My college coach always referred to the basketball season as a marathon. It is the longest running sport at that level. Goes from Fall to Spring and you have to pace yourself over that long of a season to make sure you peak at the right time. So when I graduated I took the metaphorical meaning of his words and took them literally and finishing a marathon became my goal.

It is a new year and I am re-committed to my training. It was a very hot summer here in Southern California. Together with the recent fires it was easy not to train. But now that winter is here, injuries gone, and my competitive spirit picking back up I am once again looking forward to running in the Los Angeles Marathon. Last year the L.A. Marathon was my first event everâ?¦and my inexperience showed. I blazed out to a 1:39:35 half marathon (which is close to Boston Qualifying pace for me). But the second half took my about 3 hours for a total time of 4:33:39.

I have 2 half marathons under my belt now and one more in Feb before the full marathon to get me ready. My pace is a little slower then last year, but my endurance is way up! I ran 10 miles last year and took 2 days to recover and now I recover from a 19 mile run by the next evening when I weight train. I did not have map my run before last yearâ??s race and it has been a great tool for me. I am relatively new at this running thing so to see a whole civilization interested in running keeps me interested.

I have big legs and have a well defined chest. No matter how much I run I probably will never weigh below 180lbs because of my large frame, but at the start of last years marathon I was 195 and 8% body fatâ?¦and it looked really REALLY good on me. I have become a running fool and my goal is to this year not fall off during the hot summer months because getting back into shape SUCKS!
