Bellarine Rail Trail GE
location: Geelong, Australia
distance: 20.86 mi. | ( 1 votes / 584 views)
created by: dylannickelson on 03/20/2009
description: Starting at Geelong showgrounds, this run passes through Newcomb, Moolap, Leopold and Drysdale before finishing at Queenscliff. The trail is a decommissioned rail line from Geelong to Drysdale. The line from Drysdale to Queenscliff remains in use as a tourist attraction. This latter section of the run passes through rural farms.
Great Run! but note that there are only two drink stops -- the one marked on the map at Leopold and another at the Drysdale train station. There is also a service station not too far from the Drysdale train station.

Great Ocean Road Marathon
location: Geelong, Australia
distance: 27.96 mi. | ( 0 votes / 576 views)
created by: dylannickelson on 04/12/2009
description: The information used to construct this route was taken from http://www.greatoceanroadmarathon.com.au
This is the route for the 45km (27.96 mile) Great Ocean Road Marathon. The run begins at the Lorne Hotel and finishes at the Apollo Bay Hotel. This is a great run, but pray that you don't get a south-westerly wind (the predominant wind) on race day as this is a one-way, not an out-and-back, marathon. Accordingly, you can have a head wind nearly all race.
The official race website states that there are drink stations at 5.3, 10.1, 15.3, 20.4, 25.5, 30.8, 35.4 and 39.9km. Also, participants are asked to keep to the left-hand lane of the road. The right lane is used for emergency services vehicles.
In 2009 this event takes place on the 17th May.
