Route Description
1.15m rectangular (flat) loop starting from the Memorial Museum in Gonzales (which is the home of the Come And Take It Cannon) that Texas Independence Relay teams run together to celebrate what they are setting out to do!
Route Description
Hilliest and longest leg of the entire course. It is all on dirt roads that pass through pastures and offers countryside views. The RDs\' favorite!
Route Description
Almost the shortest leg. Perhaps easiest as it is an overall descent with no hills to speak of. Finishes at Spoetzl brewery in Shiner.
Route Description
Slight climb (with rollers) over first two miles, reaching the highest elevation point for the entire TIR course. Last 2 miles make a nice run coming into Flatonia.
Route Description
One of the longer Saturday runs, Leg 10 can be deceptive because even though it is a net down, it has a long ascent. It also is more open and susceptible to wind.
Route Description
Overall gradual drop of about 25ft/mile for almost 6 miles. More \\"civilization\\" than most of the Saturday legs. Likely early night time for most teams.
Route Description
Witness the Eagle Lake middle-of-the-night life on this one. Not difficult, but compared to most of the previous legs, this one has a couple of turns. Flat.
Route Description
Hard to find a straighter (after turning on 1093) or flatter run. Should definitely be a 6.76m PR! Ends at giant grain elevator. Lack of shoulder, so if a vehicle (and there will not hardly be any) is traveling westbound (against the runners), it is recommended that you stop for a moment to get completely off the road.
Route Description
See the last description (except that runners start at the giant grain elevator instead of finishing there). This leg has two gentle curves.
Route Description
Continue to use caution in case of any oncoming traffic on 1093. Turn right on 36 and have the Wallis street lights to light your way for .75miles! Flat.
Route Description
TIR Course goes due north. Apex of bridge is exactly 2.5m or halfway. Elevation generated for this leg is not correct. The bridge (from about 2.3-2.7m) is an incline and then descent - not what the profile displays.
Route Description
Can\\'t be called rolling, but this leg has more up-n-down than the previous 10 legs. First signs of metro-Houston occur on this leg.
Route Description
Enter suburbia. Finishes at one of Cinco Ranch\\'s giant high schools. Not hilly. In fact, none of the legs the rest of way have any hills (unless noted otherwise).
Route Description
The Terry Hershey Trail is a favorite. Morning light for all teams... even the ones ahead of schedule. Some tiny rolling \\"hills\\". Forth longest leg.
Route Description
Take a tour through the Tanglewood community (where the Houston Country Club is located) and run into Memorial Park, where exchange 34 is located.
Route Description
Known as the Captain\\'s Leg, captains are not absolutely required to run it. The idea is that captains should have the FIRST pick of the leg they want without getting anything remotely close to grief for doing so - They\\'ve EARNED it! Most people (esp from out of town) would want to do leg 35 as it is climactic in that comes into the heart of Houston after starting in Memorial Park and running on the Buffalo Bayou trail. Some minor rolling hills.
Route Description
Starting from downtown Houston, Leg 36 goes around the Toyota Center before leaving the downtown area by way of Polk. Leg 36 picks up on the Brays Bayou Trail near the Gus Wortham Golf Course before traversing a lower income neighborhood and finishing in Mason Park.
Route Description
Leg 38 is a school-to-school route. It tours Pasadena (staying just south of the suburbs downtown), going from Cesar Chavez High School to Keller Junior High.
Route Description
Run through Deer Park, Texas... and start to smell the barn, so-to-speak. (You don\\'t literally smell hay on Leg 39... after the 38th exchange, you start sensing that you\\'re nearing the finish!)
Route Description
LAST LEG!!! What more needs to be said!? Team-wide.. more than that... event-wide euphoria is waiting. This leg runs through La Porte, TX, and you can see the finish for the first time as you crest the Battlground Rd overpass (over 225), which is 3.4 miles away.
1.15m rectangular (flat) loop starting from the Memorial Museum in Gonzales (which is the home of the Come And Take It Cannon) that Texas Independence Relay teams run together to celebrate what they are setting out to do!
Distance
4.26 mi.
First runner continues running after the prologue to do this first 4.26m leg out of Gonzales. This leg has a few rolling hills.
