Step 1: Get your Running Buddies Together
Run alone or get your friends and family together! Send invitations to have others join you for the virtual event. All virtual race participants will receive an official race T-shirt, bib, and medal after the race!

Step 2: Register!
What is a virtual race? Virtual means you can participate in your own backyard on your own course with or without friends! After you complete running or walking your own planned course, you can upload your results, compare and see how you would have done versus thousands of others running the live event, and you will receive an official FINISHER shirt, bib, and race medal!
Step 3: Map Out Your Own Route on MapMyRun.com
Map a route on MapMyRun.com
by pointing-and-clicking where you want to run. After you map out your planned course,
you can share the map with friends, print it out with cue sheets, or even upload it to your
Garmin or iPhone.

Step 4: Set your own Race Date!
All virtual participants must complete and submit their run between Monday October 19th, 2009 and Wednesday October 28th, 2009 to have their results officially counted

Step 5: Run your Race & Upload Results and Photos!
Upload your race results and photos by Wednesday October 28th, 2009 using your iPhone, Garmin, Timex, Nike+, or Polar devices
before the deadline.
The results upload is now closed. Please contact us if you did not get your event results uploaded in time.
Step 6: View Participant Results!
Return back to the Dean Karnazes Silicon Valley Marathon website and view how your results compared to all the other finishers -- Virtual and Live! Search the event results now.
Step 7: Official Race Medal!
After you upload your results, you will receive your official Dean Karnazes Silicon Valley Marathon race shirt, bib, and race medal!
