Lower Loop, Budd Trail, Upper Lower Loop, and Peanut Mine Road
Start at the 4-way stop in Crested Butte, north on 6th Street to Butte Ave, west to the start of county road 4. Take the unmarked single track immediately to the left, and follow it along contours. We had intended to stay on the easier Lower Loop trail all the way, but when we came to a fence followed a group of bikers up a trail to the left --- this turned out to be the much more technical and steep Budd Trail that was only recently opened. It was fun, but more challenging than we'd planned on. Budd Trail joins back up with the Upper Lower Loop trail at a 3-way intersection --- the other choice takes you back to Crested Butte. We took Upper Lower Loop down to Gunsight Bridge, Lower Loop back until it intersected Peanut Lake Road (CO 4), which we took back to town. We meandered around Crested Butte a little on the way back to our car. - a 10.3 mi running route in Crested Butte, Colorado
