This 5Kish (trail racing isn't exact) run in conjunction with the half marathon race and 10K, is a great option for those looking for a challenge but not the distance. Run primarily on dirt roads, with sections of runnable single track, it starts with a mile of downhill, before beginning to climb. A stout quarter mile of steep climbing is rewarded with fantastic views of Longs Peak and the Continental Divide. Then a cruising downhill in the third mile, before the short uphill climb to the finish. For those looking for less technical trails and less vertical climbing, but still want beautiful scenery and bit of a challenging course, this race is for you. These trails are all on private property and only accessible to public on race day
