Calarat Challenge 10K
This 10Kish (trail racing isn't exact) course run in conjunction with the half marathon race, is a bit tamer than its longer companion. Not that it will be walk in the park. Run on a mix of dirt roads and runnable single track, the race starts with short downhill before a stout climb of 300 feet in the first mile. Then begins fun runnable single track, another climb which is rewarded with a long downhill run on mix of roads and single track. <br>But there is more stout climbing, which is rewarded with views of Longs Peak and the Continental DIvide. Another downhill on single track and dirt road before a final climb back to the finish at the Cal-Wood Lodge. For those looking for a little shorter distance, but still want beautiful scenery and a challenging course, with plenty of variety, this race is for you. These trails are all on private property and only accessible to public on race day - a 6.1 mi running route in Lyons, Colorado
