This is a loop hike starting from the Cleveland park metro. Go through the Melvin Hazen park trail to Rock Creek Park. Walk north on the Western Ridge trail, towards the Pierce Mill. When you get to Beach Drive you will then veer off onto the horse and foot trail to the right (heading North East). The horse and foot trail will then have an outlet (on the right) to a foot trail. This will take you to the Boulder Bridge. Cross the bridge to get to the Valley Trail. Turn right on trail to head South East. Continue south on the trail as it hugs Rock Creek. You will continue on it for roughly one mile until you get to Park Road. You can either make a right onto the road to go back to the Western Ridge trail, go a little farther to the bike and foot path on Beach Road to get back to Western Ridge, or continue on even farther to get to Bluff Bridge which also leads to Western Ridge Trail (regardless of which path chosen it will always be to the right). Then once back on the Western Ridge Trail, head back towards the Melvin Hazen Park trail to then retrace your original steps out to the metro station.
