Did uploads from G305 using the new beta tool. I tried to 'hide' the lower box(tools), I think. Anyway. it freaked and went to a page where I was told I don't have access to the site. Back browser took me back to page where I was asked if I wanted to save or data would be lost. I saved. It was possible to click on icon in upper right corner to reduce the box. Both boxes need to be able to be moved out of map area. During my upload after the first one was completed and saved(why do I have to enter my password to save an upload if I am already logged in??), I tried to save the next one but it would not respond to save button. Other buttons appeared as expected. So I did the 'hide' to get out of the freeze and when asked re saving/losing data, I was able to save. Did three routes this way but doubt if this is working as expected.

I tried to make routes public but not sure if that worked.I have not tried to add cues to routes yet.

The red route is I guess perfect for most people. But 15% of males are color blind, the majority of those with red green deficiency.

This is unnecessarily unfriendly, as there are alternatives that can be used that will be as distinctive for people without color deficiency. (I cannot recall such a problem with Microsoft software, for example)

Could you please change the route color, or better, provide the user with the ability to change the color within the settings menu?

I am finding "phantom" hills when I apply elevation. Hills that I know just aren't there. I can ignore this on routes I know but how do I plan a ride on a new route. Another interesting thing is that one route I tried seven times, Most of the route was OK but at 3km and 5km there would sometimes be hills and sometimes not, and the when they were there they were different sizes. Does anyone how the elevation points are obtained. I download the information to Excel, standardise the distances and then put them into charts to compare new routes to those I already know.

Has anyone had the problem that when they print out the directions of their routes (for me it's walking routes) that the directions are often reversed

ie it will say make a right when it's literally left
not only that many times there is only one way which one can turn, if you are at the street there is only say a left onto it - there isn't even a right

this of course is distressing if one is going to areas that they are not familiar with

I love this site, but there are entirely too many bugs. I map a run and then click the out and back icon and the map registers 1 1/3 the milage with no reference to miles 1-4, only 5-11. Total milage for the run still registers 8, so I don't much care. Then I try to save it and it constantly prompts me to log back in. Once I've logged in, it deletes the run I've just entered. It's a vicious circle man!! Too bad, I think the site is great, but if these bugs aren't fixed I'll probably give up on it before long.

'route_data' (string) is a required parameter

I filled in all the required fields - even if I hadn't filled in a field the submit error check should tell me to fill in a required field (this happened the first time I tried to save the route).

I am unable to import date from Garmin Forerunner 301. I have tried 2 different computers, different web browsers, beta vs non-beta MMR website. None of this seems to matter. It finds my Garmin device, it loads the data, then I get the dreaded: 0 routes, 0 tracks and 0 waypoints found message. My Garmin 301 has 2 years worth of data on it. It works fine with the http://allsportgps.com website and the http://trail.motionbased.com website.

I and others, have posted this issue in the MMR forums 9+ months ago without resolution. Does nobody else have this issue? How do I get in contact with MMR website people to get this matter addressed?

Friends brag about the MMR website but I have been unable to get it to work for 9 months. I've tried installing the lasted Garmin drivers and software. Have installed a new copy of Garmin Training Center. None of this makes any difference.

It's really frustrating - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi

I just found this site and figured I would just start out with the new software since that is what (presumably) the site will be changing over to.

I need to make some routes for a bike ride (ta110bike.com). Which we will put up in the events section once it is complete.

I started with just a simple rout to get the hang of things. I turned on the Follow Roads and mapped out a simple route.

I saved the route without any problem. But when i bring it up using the provided link the Notes are gone. They don't print and don't show up in the notes section.

It may well be something i am doing wrong. If so please point me in the right direction (pun intended).

I log in, start to create a route, it asks if I want to try the beta and I do.

Then another window opens with MapMyRide in it. I am no longer logged in. I log in, chose create a route and the same window pops up asking me to try the beta. I chose this and another window opens with me not logged in.

When I try to create a map there, the pop up asks me to try the Beta and so on.

So, . . .?

I am using the latest version of Firefox 2.

Sam

I also hate it when I create a map in the regular program and go to save it and it tells me I have to be logged in before I can save a map and I was already logged in. Then I have to do it again and sometimes have the same result. Fix that in the beta also if it hasn't been done.

I was wondering if there was a way to separate milage from different groups. A few of my co-workers and I created a group and we compare eachother's bike mileage. I track my dog walks and my bicycle rides but I only want to show my bike rides to my work group.

I am also a swimmer and would eventually like to run again. If I were to join a swimming and running group I would only want to show the running group my run miles and the swimming group the swimming miles.

I doubt any of the groups would be too impressed that I walked my dogs 2 or 3 miles plus combining the mileage inflates mileage. I would look like an awesome swimmer if I they thought my bike miles were my swimming miles.

Is there a way or would there be a way that I could choose what kind of mileage goes to each of my groups. I dont feel like managing two different profiles. Its possible Im and idiot and I havent figured it out yet. Please let me know. Thanks.

I just mapped my first long (50+ miles) route and it is WAY faster. I like that very much. I am unable to get the "Out and Back" or "Loop" buttons to work, the elevation does not seem to work and am not able to edit an existing map with the tool (I guess that's why it's called a BETA . It will be great when those are working!

I have used the new mapping several times now and it seems to be a lot quicker.

A small thing i allways find it dificult to get my map in the center of the screen. could you provide a button to scale the map so its easy to get it all in one screen.

Follow roads has gotten dumber + Bug in Save Route dialog

Follow roads seems to prefer large highways for some reason. Here is an example of a route I was working on: ...view_route?r=295615242. The point just after mile 5 was where I tried to extend the route to where mile 11 is but the site decided it would take a very long and not so bike-worthy way to get there instead. Also when trying to save the route using the combo box to select Canada the list had a lot of problems scrolling and when I selected Canada Armenia was selected instead. (Also note that home shows up as a person drinking from a fountain).

I am using the latest version of Firefox.

Thanks!

Bug in 'undo' (+thoughts)

I was creating a route using the 'follow roads' option when I pressed undo it simply deleted the last point instead of all the points after the second last point that I clicked on. After pressing undo numerous times to back up to the point I wanted to be at, when I then tried to click on a new point it would start from the last point before I began pressing undo in the first place. This resulted in a route that was not fully connected (or where I wanted to go).

Ultimately what I think would be best, if possible, would be to have only the points which the user creates as points on the map, more like google maps where the line between points would follow the road until the next. This would allow the user to edit the map with a lot more ease after the route is created, than they can currently do. Google maps has a feature that allows the user to grab one of the points and drag it to another road which is very useful for cyclists trying to create a route at a predefined distance. There may also be a way there to improve load and edit times for long routes if thousands of points are done away with.

 - Undo needs to undo to route markers, not individual data points
- The operation of toolbox functions is unclear
- seems to randomly try to create loops between the points
- I can't lay a point on top of another point (eg return route lays on top of outbound route). Can't put finish where start is.
- When saving the route, form should automatically pick up start location (and the fact that I was already logged in).

RFE
- for routes designated as bike rides, default to "follow roads". Alternatively "follow roads" should be a user-level config parm
- I never want my run or ride to take the freeway. I don't need fine grained prefs like Streets&Trips, but there needs to be an "avoids highways" option.

Other RFEs
- To avoid subjective valuations of ride difficulty, should automatically calculate a composite difficulty level: steepness of climbs, vertical feet, number of climbs, avg altitude, etc.
- I should be able to easily pick any ride in my catalog as a training ride. There should be a pull-down on "create new activity" page listing all my routes.
- Why do I select "general type of workout" then have to pick "activity detail"? It's redundant.
- "Activity detail" should be a pull-down...not clear what to put there to achieve a match. I got stuck for quite a while trying to figure that one out.
- I would like to send route to people without logins. Can you export a URL that points to G maps? Or better for you would be a public 'viewer' page that enticed people to create an account.
- Obviously: ability to print cue sheets

You don't have permission to access /route_engine/3/engine/ on this server.

Hiding the Markers works well though

With follow roads on, the mapping tool will not always make turn where indicated. Instead it follows the road it is on to the next intersection and loops back I've tried moving the take off point back a bit, but this does not usually solve the problem (occasionally it will.)

When you implement "Notes," I would find the ability to edit the notes after the fact very helpful, especially with follow roads on. Also, it seems that if the turn is not "clicked" in, the turn must be manually types in.
