Sometimes it's a good idea to run with another person, and converse a bit while you run, it will keep you relaxed and not focused as much on the run.
For me, keeping my mind off the run works best for most distance runs. A good deal of fatigue can be controlled with your mental game.
Tell yourself good job after each run, keep a positive look on things even if they don't compare to your former bests. It's ok if you don't improve every day you go run, just keep working hard and maybe even research some tips on running form and try some things out. Eventually you'll get back in the groove of things and it'll be fun again! :-P
