    Hi All:

I've been enjoying reading the entries in this forum. Nice group.

I'm running my first half-marathon in a few weeks, and it occurred to me that I could use it as a way of getting charitable contributions for a 501(c)(3) organization I'm involved with.

Can anyone point me in a direction to learn about how to do this type of thing well? As far as the actual money, I can point them to the org's website and have them put "Jay's run" in the comments or some such. So at least I don't have to worry about collecting money.

Any help is welcomed and appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Jay

Jay:   I believe there are a host of sites that can coordinate solicitation and payments of donations.  I recently opened up two sites at

    http://www.firstgiving.com

to collect fundraising for a marathon I was running.  It worked out great.   It was free and easy to set up, though First Giving does take a small admin fee off the donations for managing payment to the ultimate charity. I'm not sure there are any similar sites that don't take such a charge.
