    I have been running  every wednesday (at least 5miles) since last year - however, if i try to run on, say friday as well as wednesday, i seem to get muscle pain in my lower leg/legs (the inside of my shin - shin splints?)

    I would like to run at least 3 times a week, but this seriously puts a dampner on things.

    Also, if i try to run with this pain (i did this once last year) i end up with an injury (bruised muscle apparantly) and am out of action for at least a month!

    Can any one help?

    P.S I had a gait analysis, got suitable trainers according to the results which seem really good, but still get the pain.

    P.P.S I run with my weight towards the front of my foot (ball of feet by toes) - i constantly try to land on my heels first, but no joy.

    Take a look at Danny Dreyer's book on Chi Running. I am a new runner (at least to run consistently like this) and this helping me tremendously! I worked in Physical Therapy for 7 years, currently an RN, and I must say that although his methods are outside of standard, they are incredibly accurate regarding laws of physics, motion, etc. I am learning to listen to my body and make postural and foot placement to eliminate pain in knees, shins, and calves (my hot spots). Can't hurt to look Smile
