Are there functional differences between the 2 iPhone apps that makes iMapMyRun not good for tracking runs and vice versa?  Or are they the exact same code with different branding?  I ride and run and prefer not to load both on my phone.

The differences are primarily branding, you can definitely use one for both purposes :)

I'm a noob at this but am enjoying the possibilities. This question is similar to the one posed by douglass_hall in Oct. 08. It's now April 09 and I've discovered the iPhone apps; except now there are five apps: Fitness, Hike, Ride, Walk, and Run. I got excited and downloaded all, but I'd really only like to use one. So, can you re-confirm that they're all the same? And if they are all the same, then why would one use one over the other? I'd really like to use iMapMyFitness and take care of "all" my activities.

They're currently the same but eventually we'll be adding some differentiating factors to all of them (i.e. Hikers may want a compass, while runners won't care). But currently the biggest differences is primarily branding.

I have recently downloaded the new version of iMapMyRide (3.1.3 (788)). The GPS mapping functionality seems to have been downgraded i.e. the time interval between points has increased leading to an inaccurate zigzag of straight lines rather than an accurate refection of the route I cycle.

Can I improve the settings or is this 'downgrade' in functionality by design?

    Thanks, Rich

I would like to echo richlondon. I love the upgrade interface of the iMapMyRide App. But I cannot get it to map correctly. The old version mapped great EVERY time. I have not had a successful map yet with the new version - zigzags, stops recording, very inconsistent. It seems like it only takes intermittent readings which completely throws off map/distance/average speed. If the app can't map, then it's kind of useless. For now, is there any way to downgrade to the previous version. I'd give up all the nice interface for the thing to work correctly. Thanks, Steve

The decrease in accuracy is a fault of the new iPhone OS, we do not as far as I know have any control over the GPS accuracy.
