This is a funny one ... Which places _will_ you go after a workout without showering?
I've definitely been guilty of heading to the market after a gym session but is that a no no?

This is so funny. To the grocery store, maybe.
There is practically nowhere I will go after a workout without showering. Not so much because I think I stink (although my wife would disagree) as because I can't stand the way the salt from dried sweat feels on my skin. If I don't wash it off, I get a rash.
I'm work with the military in Saudi Arabia. Breaking a sweat is easy to do here.
Recently the guys I work with have started to have meetings for no other reason than they think they need to have a meeting. IT KILLS ME! As a form of non-violent protest to the stupid meetings, I have started to go for a good, sweat-inducing run (I have to PT, you know!) and finish up about 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting du jour. "Sorry guys...didn't have time to change clothes or shower."
Yesterday, I got the boss and a couple of others to "tap out" and end the meeting early as I sat there in my workout clothes and basked in the fruits of my labor. 25 minutes and we are out of there! Time to hit the showers!
I know this wouldn't go over well in the business world, but it's starting to help keep me sane and motivate me to get out for a run on the days when I waffling.
Cheers,
DeX

I feel the same way. I can go some places, but if I'm going to be sitting or am going to want to be comfortable, I can't not shower.
I used to drive a taxicab and rode the bike to pick it up (about 8 miles). I only ever did that once without showering. Even I was offended
. From then on I always drove the cab back home and took a shower.
Where I work now has showers and lockers. Very civilized.
lets see....on a normal day, the coffee shop...but if it's nice out, I will sit on the patio to enjoy my cafe.
When I really don't care, I teach class after a run. Undergrads love the smell of a 30 mile workout.
in summer i ride my bike to work and there are no showers there so i end up air drying and splashing a bit of water over my pits. Not pleasant, but as long as i avoid small rooms without windows no one has complained. My cycling clothes on the other hand are quite stinky, fortunately no one else uses the closet where i hang them to dry!

Definitely the grocery store and maybe someplace fast for food like Panera Bread or Subway. I figure I should eat quick while my metabolism is at its fastest! :)
Once, my husband and I went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch after having sweated quite a bit doing house and yard work. We didn't think we were offensive but a table over from us asked the wait staff to turn on the fan. And then I over heard them say something about the smell - don't know if they were talking about us, but... There were a number of workers there too so I didn't think much of it.
I also bike to work but have a half bathroom where I can freshen up when I change into my work clothes. I also bike to stores and restaurants regularly but usually try not to have a "hard" ride so I don't sweat too much.
The funniest thing is that I usually try not to go anywhere after particularly tough yoga classes because I tend to sweat in all the embarassing places like my butt, and the crease of my groin.
Well, the summers here in AZ require doing any outdoor workout before the sun gets too hot, which means before work, so I always get to shower after.
BUT the winter workouts have to be done after work when it's light out and a little bit warmer. So I go for a run and then straight to daycare for my daughter and almost always stop at the grocery store on the way home. Right now, it is 10pm and I STILL haven't had the chance to shower after my 4pm run!
Places I would go without showering after a bike ride?
Well on a hike, or a swim. Oh, or on a swim that is on the way to a hike. I like the idea of getting doughnuts too.
I teach, so I feel that I have to smell fresh for the sake of the children. I don't want to be that teacher that is remembered for his B.O. We all have that teacher that when we are remembering school with friends we remember them as "Mr. So-and-so with the bad breath or Mr. What's-his-face with the nose hair." I don't one of my third graders saying to friends 10 years from now, "Do you remember Mr.Wellborn? He always had the worst B.O. and sweaty pits!"
We do have a workout class after school and I will often stop at the grocery store for the wife. The way I see it, if I look like I have been working out (work out clothes etc) then I can stink in public. People who exercise regularly aren't going to be offended and the lazy aren't going to want to say anything.
In winter I run in my lunch break, and until recently my workplace didn't have showers, so there was no choice. Mind you, I don't sweat heaps and don't have strong BO, so it wasn't too much of a problem.
Now that its summer (in Australia) it's too hot to run during the day, so I run around sunset/dusk. I rarely have to go out past that hour, so I can always shower.
Nowhere. Can't even imagine. I sweat way too much for that, and I love feeling clean after a shower!

Margorita:Wal-mart and the grocery store. But it is clear by my clothing that I'm coming from a run or the gym. So I don't feel so guilty about stinking.
Yet another reason why I wont shop at Wal-mart!
Hrm.
I've been known to run to the pub. I don't *think* I stink...
I think most of us agree that the grocery store is fine - I do what most of you do, put on some deodorant & spray some body splash and I'm good to go!
I've also gone to my yoga class without showering. I wonder if that's a no-no? By the end of class everyone's sweating, but I always feel rude starting it already sweaty. Lol.
haha this is a good topic
i'll go almost anywhere without showering like the rest of you, it never bothered me before. People who don't excersize think it's strange, but i never really thougth about it
Oh boy, since it's winter and too cold to train outside, I've been training at the gym in the evening, so by the time I'm done the only place I may stop is the gas station, or the grocery store. Honestly, I would rather not be seen as I am in a messy state after a good work out!! Home for a shower is best!
I almost hit the grocery store today after a running 10 with a dually (two kids)...it was on the way home...decided against it since I was really wet...and cold...drove the 10 miles home, showered, and drove the 10 miles back to the grocery store. Glad I did the hot shower...but I was really tempted...
I will go just about anywhere after a workout unless i know for a fact that i stink. I can usually tell if i need to clean up before i go anywhere. My thing is that the people that would find it offensive or nasty are probably people that don't make fitness a priority in their life and for that i feel sorry for them.
