I downloaded the free app and used it for the first time yesterday. Realize that when the iphone goes into lock mode, the app kind of quits (not able to run in the background?). Stopped at my turnaround and changed the settings and it worked all the way back. Took it on a 10 miler today (with a fresh full charge) and had a "battery low" alert when I finished 1:29:32 later. Audible alert I thought was set for every mile, but she spoke when she wanted to (it IS a womans voice, afterall!). I'l
Great concept, but the data is inaccurate. The GPS doesn't log the correct mileage and the time is off. Hopefully they can work the bugs out because I would love an app like this with accurate data.
I have one major development request that is keeping away from mapmyrun.com right now. Build in iTunes controls into the application. I want to be able to control my music while on a run. Thanks
Ha! I read someone's post about another app caled trailguru and funny how that can pick up my location at this very moment but imapmyrun can't! I guess it is the app and not my phone!
I just downloaded the app yesterday and was so EXCITED to use it so went for a run. MAJOR problem, at no point during my run could it locate where I was. It was not until I was home laying in bed that I remembered to shut it off and only than did it pick up my location. For all my other apps that need to locate where i am it always works so wondering whether it is the app or the phone??? Does anyone else have this problem?
is there a way to minimize the screen. Sometimes i'm listening to itunes when i'm running and if I get out of the application it stops recording and I have to start it all over. - Its frustrating when I want to flip to a different song and can't unless i start my timer over again.
My iPhone App works except it never records the time, just distance, and no matter where I ride it always says I am in Ottawa. Anybody have a solution?
I am getting so frustrated with this app. I'll be out on a great ride and when I'm all done and try to save it and upload it, I get an error giving me the option to Retry, Cancel (and lose the workout), or exit the app and hope the ride is still there when I come back. Not once when I've gotten this error have I later been able to upload the ride, which is actually good because the app still thinks I'm riding at 0mph and my stats get really crappy. PLEASE FIX THIS, it's not a con
Mapmyride worked well the first time or two, but after that I kept getting a message telling me it was unable to connect to network whenever I tried to save ride information. The network connections were working just fine. I continue to receive this message, so I've taken the application off my iPhone.
Also... would love the ability to update the Daily Log from my iPhone. It would be so much easier to way myself and then just type it into my iphone then to have to come to the website and fight my way around the crazy navigation here.
I love the Run App, but there is one main problem I've discovered: The Voice Feedback function is one of the main reasons I switched from RunKeeper, but it doesn't seem to work most of the time. I'll set it to voice prompt me at every 5 minutes, then I'll go to the Record tab to start recording and while I'm running I won't hear the voice. After my run I check the settings and the voice settings have reset to 20 minutes. Very Annoying.
I've used the app 3 times thus far. The first time didn't work so well. Kept cutting off and when I restarted it, it didn't pick back up from the correct distance only the correct time. The second time was a bit better...the time was correct but the distance was slightly off. On my last run, after 1.5 miles, it shut off and when restarted (resumed) it jumped to 4.0 miles but the time stayed correct. I like this application as many of you do but the fact that it will not stay on for an en
Is there a FAQ page? Half the time it records my time ok, but not the distance. You added the screen lock,,,but something a little more detailed than the user guide so far would be great. Who can get it to read the GPS/distance for the whole ride?
I like this app, when it will work. It worked fine for a walk I did one early morning, but the two times I've used it for a ride it hasn't done very well.
For instance, today I rode about 13 miles-- and it only captured 3.5. I had to go into the website and re-create my route by hand, as it were, instead of simply uploading my ride from my iphone. I can't stop every 2 minutes or whatever to make sure it's working, that sort of defeats the purpose!
How do I get to see my pace (minutes per mile) AFTER I have completed the run? While, i like seeing it in progress, from a stats perspective, I need to know easily, without having to calculate what my pace was.
I think the above comments answer my question...but maybe its been fixed...I am doing a virtual marathon and need to upload my finished route. But it takes me 5.5 hours to run a marathon and it seems that I have to leave the app on and the phone and iTunes cannot be used...is this true? I think if I have my iphone not go to sleep for 5.5 hours the battery will die....can the app run in the background? I want to be able to use the phone and iTunes with out having to Resume Workout.
Is it possible to zoom in on the map when you're looking at a saved route? It just shows me the whole route--not helpful for biking when you have to make turns on small streets.
What is the difference between the three applications? I can't see any between ride, run and fitness is there one? Is there a plan for them to differ? Why Three?
Does anybody have it working in Europe? I tried both in Italy (Milan) and in Germany (Munich) in open spaces but it seems it's not abel to catch up the gps signal. Thanks for your feedback. Ivan
No way to use this if one runs on a treadmill I guess since you are not actually moving forward? I know it will track the time but not kilometers/miles?
The only difference I noticed between the app working and not, was whether I was on the 3G network - all the problems were using EDGE.
Fix this please!!!! I really want to use this application, but I don't think I can stop and save data and restart every two minutes on a regular basis.
Literally, I could see the time elapse and I know it was every two minutes, which is insanely aggravating over an hourlong hike. Then I had to open up 11 separate routes and stitch them together to get an accurate picture of what my hike had been.
I do have to say, though - this is a great app when it works, esp. in a rural area where hiking trails aren't on satellite or topo maps.
Great app, when it works! One day this week it worked just fine on a walk I took near my home. However, this afternoon I took a hike in a rural area and for whatever reason the application wouldn't work properly. Instead of loading the screen with the lock/unlock icons, the application would simply quit, without tracking any more data. When I'd relaunch I'd have a choice to save or restart the hike - which at least allowed me to save the data, but I had to restart the hike *every 2 minutes*.
- Short battery life while using GPS: a 10K run took my battery from "nearly full" down to critically low. Not running iTunes helps a fair amount, I ran 18K this morning with "only" about 50% battery consumption.
- GPS errors: Anomalous waypoints result in over-estimated distances. Looking closely at the mapped route on the mapmyfitness.com site typically shows a number of shortish back-and-forth segments. a 17.5K run was reported
I had the problem saving and tried about 5 times before is saved the first .55 miles of my 10.5 mile rids. I had to login again in order to save the ride. I think the tracking quit when my phone rang. I also see a straight line at the start of the ride. I know that it is wrong because it is a winding ride around a lake. I will try again to see if I can get it to work for the whole ride.
a shame because i like to run with a phone, ipod, gps
